transmission oils changed on new Puma
paranoid after the factory oils thread I changed the Gbox and Tbox oils this morning for SMXS and syntrax.

What a palava ! You need to be a contortionist with ET's arms to do this job. I got covered in it and so did the drive but its done now Cool

The Tbox oil that came out (2 litres of it) looked like gravy while the 3 litres that came out of the Gbox (overfilled at the factory !) looked like metallic brown paint. Never seen gearbox oil that colour before. Don't know if thats a good thing but the correct stuff in the right quantity is in there now Smile

While I was at it I checked the diffs and the oil in those looked like it had just come out of the bottle which is what I would have expected on a new car with less than 400 miles on the clock although I had to stand on the wrench to get the plug off the front diff - way overtight. I didn't bother to get all the threadlock off the plugs but I wrapped them in PTFE so hopefully no leaks.

I don't want to be doing that job again for a long long time !

PTFE is teflon white tape that plumers use to seal threads on joints.I have used it for years and works well to seal threads.Any hardware store has it. Puma 110 SW
