Unfortunately for a real beach experience you have to go a little further! Click image to enlarge Deltebre North East Spain Just because you're offended doesn't mean you're right. |

Don’t have to go that far, there are some beautiful sandy beaches in the Outer Hebrides that even this summer you would probably still have to yourself. You do have to be very careful driving across the machsir to to get to some of then as it is very very fragile and in many places has a protection order on it. Tiree is a magic island for this with 365 beaches around the island so if you are into windsurfing too then there’s alway a beach you can sail from and the island is also a massive bird sanctuary so take your binoculars along too. I can recall seeing a few cars bogged at spot as a kid, folk were always tempted to venture further from the promenade than is wise.
In all my trips to that beach I think I may have seen the sea only once. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS |

One of my earliest recovery lessons was near here. A hot hatch was bogged up to it's axles. A Defender driver was keen to help but wrapped an old rope around the uprights to his bull bar. I tried to explain that might not be his best option - but he said he knew what he was doing. There was a decent crowd to watch him reverse at a reasonable speed and succeed in pulling his bull bar completely off. Never sure if the hot hatch was ever rescued.

Coming in from a day on the jet ski at Black Rock and nearly hitting car roofs is a regular occurrence .

Not so much a drive on Beach but from Trearddur Bay to Cymyran Bay on Anglesea the road lies more or less right at the side of the beach so you can park right alongside. Usually, you can find a little deserted bay without any people and you have the benefit of being able to keep your eye on the Defender.
And then of course on Anglesea, you have Red Wharf bay the most famous drive on Beach in the world for a Defender. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at.. http://www.youtube.com/user/conwy1 |
