I have a QR and Startech and IMO gives more room in the cabin due to the reduced diameter. No more hitting knees getting in. I know the Optimill QR is slimmer than the one I have which moves the wheel slightly further away from you (nearer the dash) so should be even better. My driving postion allows me to see all the dials perfectly through the wheel.
So all in all for me a great modification! I have this set up and it’s more roomy and better to drive, the Startech just makes the cab a better place to be. I was fortunate to get one cheap from the forum, not sure if i’d pay the full retail price, you may want to try a smaller MOMO type wheel first to see if you like the feel of it.

One of the first and best mods I ever did to mine.
Gives the cab a far more luxurious feel and loads more room. to me It also looks more factory standard than the factory standard. |

I too, have this combination and on the whole, it's a good set up. The stalk controls still fall easily to hand and the wheel itself is a very nice thing. The only downside is that from my normal seating position, I no longer have a good view of the top left of the rev counter, which is where the needle spends the majority of it's time. It's not the end of the world and is a compromise that I'm prepared to live with for the aesthetic and security benefits of the combination, but just something to consider. Darren

Thanks all,
I will be ordering the kit this week. The Truck is going in for a full respray with CSK and will come back looking mint in the black and grey (adventure edition) So is likely to be even more desirable from a scrote point of view I have ALL the usual security enhancements ( plus a few of the not so usual) and this will just about top it off. Thanks again. Frank "Of Course, Of course, I ain't asking . I'm telling!!" |

I am finding it impossible to get a Startech wheel in black.
Let me know if you get hold of one. |

I bought nine from 4x4overlander.
They have them listed as in stock on the website. Bought the removable QR directly from Optimill |

Just bought the QR Boss and Swivel Lock from Will French at LRD Security but there are very few Startech Wheels in the UIK at the moment and a lot of them have the white stitching, I didn't want that so bought directly from Germany with red stitching. Ordered on Friday and arrived yesterday by UPS at a inclusive cost of 501 Euros (£454).

All,
Thanks for all the advice and Pix. I opted for the quick release from Optimill and a Startech from Brendan. Both ordered Wednesday and delivered/fitted Friday. I chose the white stitching as it matches the other leather bits in my truck. REALLY PLEASED The "in your face" obviousness of the wheel lock is striking and a major deterrent. Any Thief looking at my truck will hopefully see it as more trouble than it's worth. I am just putting a post on about security so if anyone has any tips please take a look. Thanks again "Of Course, Of course, I ain't asking . I'm telling!!" |

Late to the thread but incase anyone else finds this. I opted for the momo set up simply because I preferred this wheel, its thinner so my wife can grip it easily too. 350mm diameter makes it little heavier on the steering but I actually think the response and feeling is vastly better and suits my two driving positions of either hands at 9:15 or one hand on the cubby box and the other resting on the window. Likewise very obvious deterrent and super quick device one you have the knack of lining the pins up.
