So the model gets a bike team ~ there's the marketing budget out of the window...
https://www.cyclist.co.uk/news/8482/team-i...-grenadier I wonder what goodies will be chucked at crowds along this year's TdF? |

But could it be used for ferrying undisclosed packages for the team Doctor
I can’t imagine why Sky stopped the sponsorship |

Interesting article on the up and downs of sponsorship for the Ineos Grenadiers:
"From saving the whales to promoting diesel 4x4s, the 'Ineos Grenadiers' prove they are just part of the game" https://www.cyclist.co.uk/in-depth/8490/th...brailsford |

Noticed on the news this morning that the UK team in the Americas cup is now also INEOS sponsored having previously been Team Landrover........

You can see how it's a good fit for Ineos and how it struck a discordant tone with JLR - the design of the boat is all about form following function and cutting edge technology and engineering to get marginal gains.

If that was the case then a 50yr old brick isn't really form following function.......

I'd beg to differ there ~ it's exactly what it is. The fact it's 50 years old, as you say, reinforces if the function has not changed then it follows the form will not either. Isn't that the principle?

That would only be the case if it was a discussion in the progression of aerodynamics, but I’d suggest not when discussing a functional, utilitarian off road vehicle. Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

I'm also guessing that pulling it away/picking it up from JLR might have appealed.
Seems a poor return for JLR to fund in the early years and then miss out on the real limelight when it races/wins? |

I think thats only consistent with a 'heritage' view......
even most general pick-ups have started to be less squared presumably to nod towards aerodynamics / economy...... modern vehicles will be expected to maintain 70-80 comfortably and flow with other traffic - it doesn't stop them being capable at 10mph off road |

I absolutely love my 130 to bits and although want to agree with you I’m not sure I can. 50 Years ago they should have changed the form to accommodate at least a driver without having to chop his / her arm off to be able to sit straight with its back. Why, in so many years, have they never been able to sort the pedals in an ergonomic place? In my opinion form has never really followed function. Could be comfort is not part of function, but in that case they could have left all interior trim, aircon and electric windows out as well... Love my aircon mind you... |

50 years ago people were generally smaller and fitted the SIIA and SIII better!

The team cycling shirt looks OK.
The Grenadier is far too large to be used as a support car but they are bringing 2 to this year's Tour De France for promotional use and for recon. They will have to go a long way to top Sky and Jaguar. WARNING. This post may contain sarcasm. |

Zed, how do you know that they’re bringing two Grenadiers to the TdF? Will have to check them out. As an addendum, The Dauphiné swings through town on Sunday. Finally, some live cycling..... Monsieur Le Grenadier
