Came across this...
Never seen one before!

Was apparently a barn find of which the farmer was happy to give away to a chap that worked on his heavy vehicles.

The guy who has it plans to get it road legal.

Apparently started first time when they fired it up.

Crop sprayer of some description? Might be interesting on road with those tyres 😁

Very nice, very rare, very original. Wow!

I'm sure I've seen this (or a twin) in LR promotional literature.

Looks like similar tyres as fitted to some of the lightweights that were bespoke built of the marshy conditions. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

If I recall correctly the tyres are Avon Treadlites (not sure of the size though).

It was pretty cool! When I’m back up that way I’ll get some more pictures. Hopefully they will have the sprayer off the back by then.

Possibly 31X15.50-15, similar to some I have.

Reminds me of the Agrover conversion, but these look to predate the one I saw.

Dug out some old photos from 1992:

It was for sale at Merlins, who were then the LR main dealer in Doncaster. using an online inflation calculator got me a current sale price of £18,094. A bargain!

Reminds me a bit of the Cuthbertson conversion for the ForestryCommission that used to reside on the forecourt of Lix Toll Motors up here in Scotland ,its long gone after the business changed hands about 10 years ago. I think one of the magazines did an article about the Lix Toll collection as they had 4 or 5 Cutherbtson converted Series Landies. One of them with tracks can be seen behind this Hydrology conversion.

Glouscester Saro conversion I think I read. Also known as Bog Frogs.

I think the Cuthbertson was the tall tracked vehicle - the other was a Roadless Traction?

Indeed, the tracked ones were Cuthbertsons. The 'Forest Rover' was a conversion designed with Roadless Traction in association with the Forestry Commission, though they never used it in any big way.

There was also this one - I think it was in one of the Land Rover books pre-internet and described as a desert conversion for an oil or pipeline survey company:
