Following the fitting of my new tank, I’ve got to put the rear ARB back on, are the bolts that hold the brackets to the chassis ok to be replaced with stainless bolts or are they not likely to be strong enough and stick with some standard 8.8 or 10.8 zinc plated?
On the subject of ARBs, I’ve been given a front bar by a friend and thought I might stick it on to see if the old girl handles any better than just with the rear, but my 300 hasn’t currently got a front ARB fitted and as such is missing the chassis brackets. I’ve seen plenty of weld on brackets But came across some bolt on brackets, http://www.extreme4x4.co.uk/Store/Suspensi...ixing-kits which seem easier to fit than cranking up the old welder. So the next question is any thoughts on these? Is bolting the brackets on going to be strong enough in the long run or is it best to weld them on and forget about it? |

Those bolts are something like 38Nm, so no issue using SS.

There's no reason why stainless fixing should seize in that application. It's when you mix them with ali that problems can occur. Darren

They would have a fair covering in dinitrol anyway, but for the bolts that go into rivnuts for the front brackets, i think I would either cover the threads in anti seize compound and or use zinc plated bolts to be on the safe side.
