It sounds like you have the Blaupunkt XQD000050PMA cassette headunit (HU), the back looks like this ?
Click image to enlarge image from Ebay (Item #183786357696) I think its the intermediate LR connector between leads that came out from the back of the headunit and full ISO connectors. If so on the HU it may have the connector description to what pin does what, if so you could get one of these : https://catalog.autoleads.co.uk/catalog/he...ses/pc3-08 And either, cut, solder and heatshrink it into the current harness, use insulated crimp connectors to mate the harnesses or if you can if possible find the “radio end” of that unusual connector and use that so you don’t need to cut into the orginal loom. It depends on how much you want to mess with the orginal loom to the HU, and how badly you want to upgrade? Hi, thank you for the reply, I not sure what to do at this point, a simple replacement radio with maybe some sort of converter plug would do, thank you for your advice.

Found it!
This is the type of adaptor you need: Land Rover Defender, Freelander, Discovery Wiring Harness Adaptor Lead https://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/ct20bm01-l...-lead.html I think this should plug into the harness conector you have and give you ISO connector, then its just a case of pick your headunit!
