Home > Site News & Feedback > Can we 'filter out' the new Defender in 'new posts'? |

Ok, I know it's unlikely, and I know I might be in a minority.... maybe....
When I visit the site, I usually go straight to 'new posts' and see what's fresh. At the moment, instead of looking to see which topic looks interesting, I'm having to look down the left hand column first to see which forum it's in, and mentally filtering out the ones that relate to the new Defender. I'm sure it's a really great car etc etc but personally, now that I've seen it, it's only a passing interest for me. With my Defender and my P38 I've enough to be going on with. Sorry to be negative - and I'm definitely not 'trolling' - I've got so much from this forum since I joined that I'd say it's been invaluable, and I still appreciate what it has to offer. I do wonder if the new Defender more readily belongs in another one of the FFRR, Disco3, Freelander etc family of linked forums rather than here? Here’s an answer from Martin in this thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic73257.html
Looks like we are here to stay! Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

Ach aye, no doubt.
Thanks for the link Tim - I hadn't paid that much attention to that thread - and I had no idea at all that the notion of new model was behind the actual name of the forum! Ironically though, Martin's comments about owners of older models being "shoved off" by discussion about the new model is kind of the way I felt when I dropped in this evening - discussions about snorkels and wheel alternatives for the 2020. It's jist that feeling that prompted me to write my first post. Maybe it's just been an odd evening, and all the oily blokes talking about diffs and UJs are out in the garage! Mark - I think I'm just one of the folk who feel that the Grenadier is a much more interesting prospect than the 2020. I could end up being sorry I started this.... When I get half a moment I'll bring across the more powerful filter that is on DISCO3, this allows you to select whichever forum(s) you like to hide from the new posts list 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

I'm with Donald on this. For me, whilst the 2020 may be a great vehicle it is a completely different one to the original Defender and maybe it should have its own forum Defender 90XS SW

Thanks Martin - that would be good.
I fully accept the logic of the comments you made in the other linked thread, but the filtering ability would be great.
