I fitted this kit and could feel no difference whatsoever in the performance afterwards. Maybe your EGR valve was faulty in some way, if you noticed an improvement.
But ROW Defender TD5’s weren’t fitted with an EGR valve so removing it will do no harm. |

Hard to say really! I've done exactly the same EGR removal as you, using the same, excellent kit as yours.
When I removed it I found that my EGR valve was very clean, as I mainly do longish runs. After the job was done, I have to say, I noticed no difference in performance at all, but then, I was not expecting or hoping for any, doing the removal simply to keep the inlet manifold & engine internally cleaner without it inhaling exhaust gases. Perhaps this eliminated the placebo effect. ![]() Cheers, Lionel |

At full power the only advantage is that the inlet is removed sao a little less resistance as no exhaust gases are let in on full throttle. Only in the mid range (normal driving

Anyone knows if the EGR solenoid (where the blue vacuum hose goes to) should be covered/plugged? My friends TD5 is not and works great Mine is plugged but makes a weird sound like something is working to much. Kinda like when you take your vacuum cleaner and put your hand over the tip.

Keep quiet when you take for MOT.
You have now modified your exhaust system which is illegal. Also don't tell your insurance ![]() The evidence for benefit is anecdotal as there are no (as far as i am aware) proper research papers that confirm the benefits. As you may guess i have re-instated mine. |

I actually refitted the EGR not too long ago because I'm a city dweller and can't find an excuse valid enough not to reduce the NOx emission. If I notice any difference, than I would almost say it runs a bit sweeter, oddly enough.
Our '97 BMW 318 has an EGR too. It's probably the slowest car to pull up when the lights go green, but it has never let us down in more than 360k kilometers. Joris Antares Treadwell, a MY06 110 Td5 in Chawton White |

I would suggest that you plug everything. When the ECU is trying to activate the now-missing egr it is opening a valve and allowing air into the vacuum lines, the same lines that provide the brake servo. |

One big benefit is ,the M.A.P, sensor stays clean,, did you take yours out and clean it [brake cleaner]
