Has anybody got these on their defender and any feedback? I like the look of these new tyres and very good pricing compared to BF Goodrich KO2 Online reviews look good on road and handle fine on the sort of off road stuff I would do.

Thanks for this Andy. Didn’t realise Pirelli had uprated their last attempt. With a brand pedigree like theirs I thought I’d give them a look on-line. All reviews seem excellent if you are after a road-biased tyre, which I am as probably 95% of my driving is on black-top. Look good, good reviews for their ability in wet/dry/snow, low road noise and sensible price. Plus they’re a three-peak tyre, which I need. Will be replacing my hoops at the end of autumn and these will likely be the tyre I go for, certainly above my current KO2s and my previous ST Maxx, but also above the Zeons I was considering, as if you have to plump between Pirelli and Cooper for road biased compounds/tech that works where I live (Alps), you’d surely say Pirelli are the go-to firm. Oh, and I have 18” black Bowlers that look similar to the wheel in the photo you chose, and they do look cool. Monsieur Le Grenadier

Well I have ordered a set at £144 a corner fitted and balanced let’s see if they are as good as the reviews. Bf Goodrich would have been around £188 a corner so £200 more. Andy

Excellent. Be interested to see some photos and hear what you think of them. I’d be looking to make the swap in November. Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Well - I drive exactly these Pirelli tires in 265/75-16 since April 2019.
In the flesh they look a bit different than on the vendor‘s website: Click image to enlarge Here you can compare them against the spare Cooper S/T Maxx: Click image to enlarge But you are probably more interested, how they drive, right? Here is the good news: excellent. The best tire, I had on my Defender for the last 12 years. Quiet (no surprise, they are road biased) and comfortable. And they stick on the tarmac like glue - both dry and wet. Braking and cornering on wet roads with significantly more confidence. A stunning 6 kg lighter than the heavy Cooper ST Maxx. Per corner. You immediately feel the difference in performance, since you lose 24 kg of rotating mass. Top speed 5-10 km/h faster than before. And they made it to the #2 spot in my favourite tire rating list: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresul...?type=ORAT I believe, they are even rated as snow tires - but during winter here (close to the Alps), I prefer dedicated snow tires. Fred. |

Agreed, thanks Fred, exactly what I wanted to hear. I think Germany in recent years has had quite a bit more snow than we have. Last ‘epic’ winter was 2012/13. Since then I probably drive in snow no more than 4-5 times over a season. As good quality Pirellis, that have a three-peak rating, I’m hoping that at least they have a compound that works on cold, but dry tarmac, or pre/end of season damp tarmac, as that’s mostly what winter offers me here. Then it’s 9 months of driving on dry roads above 5c, and so your review sounds perfect. Just what I’m after. Monsieur Le Grenadier

Missed the 6kg/wheel weight difference, that’s massive. My Bowlers are already wonderfully light, so that will be quite a bonus. Monsieur Le Grenadier

Well I have been using the new Pirelli tyres now for just over the week, I really like them drive is nice grip feels good they are a bit quieter aswell compared to the BFG AT. But most importantly my steering wobble has gone the old tyres must have been hardening up and throwing the balance off.
They also looked good in my opinion Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Andy Defender 90 Defender 110 XS Cupra 290 |

Based on the reviews from the two owners I have purchased a set to replace my cracking, not in a good sense, BFGs.
Really hoping they are as great as I have read. |
