you can probably guarantee that a BMW 6 is much more reliable than any JLR unit and if I was Ineos I would do a deal with BMW to do the dealer servicing DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,
I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy |

I did note that it looks like a full snorkel is going to be a factory option, with the air intake on the RHS. You can see the black mounting point placeholders in the video.
With the handles where the alpines would / could be (could be an option) I think they are actually tie down points. Looking at the thickness of the C pillar at 3:31 in the video, it could quite easily house an internal cage/frame structure. This would make sense with the black rails on the roof being potentially either a) mounting points or even b) rubber bumper strips for laying things straight on top. I did note the twin exhausts as well which looks well. I'd probably have a grille without the lights flushed into it, and with a non jeep wrangler esque bumper, however I'd swap it for a winch bumper anyway so thats somewhat irrelevant. My only real hard dislike has to be those rear light clusters. I'm with a lot of people in saying it should be either a vertical oblong cluster (d4 esque), or individual units ala defender. Everything else would be easily accessorised / modded. North Cumbria Search and Rescue - Team Leader |

I have a 430d and stock this engine was dynoed at 285bhp, stock should have been 257bhp.
I have a tuning box on mine and it now makes 325bhp and nearly 700nm of torque. The engine is sublime and is regarded as one of the best diesel units out there, as is the ZF gearbox. If they are using this engine then there is nothing to worry about in that respect. Mine is at 70,000 in 4.5 years from new and never had an issue. I don't think they could have chosen a better engine and box. |

Only one thing I don't like....
If you have to take it to a BMW garage to have it serviced.... I take the Mrs Mini to one near us.... All fake plants, waiting rooms with big screens everywhere, clinical, leather chairs and then you wait.... Until Sir your Service adviser will come and talk to you.. Its all so fake and pretentious. Other than than that I do like the car |

Strange you say that Stacey007, I have never heard a good word about the Mini Garage near me to the point that I know two people who had Mini's, liked the cars, but hated the main dealer so much they changed marque when they changed their cars because of the local main dealer |

We have a BMW I3, hate the dealer service the whole place is like a sterile hospital i just want to be in and out - throw the keys on the desk and be off "call me when its ready" kind of deal but no it takes 30 mins to check the car in even with their so called quick service lane. I have taken to booking things like services for collection and drop off now so i don't have to face it. 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE

Luckily enough there are lots of independents out there that look after German cars and the 3 litre engine and ZF gearbox will not be uncommon to them.

Why would this have to involve a BMW dealer? Have INEOS announced purchase/service arrangements to indicate this?. Rgds. Chris |
