Hi all,
I know I'm not one to usually get involved with modern tech too much but I need some advice. My radio is dead. I need a new one. Option A, I can get a Sony single din radio from Halfords which I can Bluetooth too for calls and a memory stick for songs, and comes preloaded to receive radio 4 for about £60ish. Option B, for about £150ish I can go to amazon and get a fancy looking but very obviously chinese unit which has a foldy screen which will allow me to have a backup camera (or better yet put a camera in the back to see how doggo is) Remembering of course that I have a TDI and the head unit is mounted at a factory 45' angle I suspect that option A suits me far better and that to do option B I would need to spend a couple hundred quid to get a good unit and cameras etc. Also is Halfords a good place to buy radios from or is there a better place for that these days? Any advice welcomed. Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter |

If you didn’t want an AV capable HU and wanted a camera system stand alone. Then there are plenty of those around and I think Ifor Williams do a solution for horseboxes and things like that. Maybe worth a look?
Some are even wireless, but you would need the display mounted somewhere but they can be of various sizes. Or you could go the AV HU route but as you’ve found some of those are of questionable quality if under £200. No Guts, No Glory. 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

I’ve got one of those with the optimill camera, lovely bit of kit, Mud have them in stock...you can shop around and get them a bit cheaper but the service from Mud is always second to none and worth that bit extra.. There’s a thread about single din units and DAB a bit further down. |

shaggydog, I’ve got a secondhand Kenwood radio dab/FM (single din) with CD, USB and Bluetooth you can have for £20 if you want to collect from East Sussex, (between Heathfield and Hailsham).
You would need to get a dab aerial for it or aerial splitter. No screen on radio for camera though. It’s model number is KDC-BT48DAB PM me if your interested.
