They did say it was close. Looks good from that photo. Searching for my first Defender...and started just as Covid hit, so talk about timing.
5 months after starting the search I found it, and here is the details |

I've heard talk of 12 year warranty on the chassis and proven engine / gearbox combinations from BMW. By all accounts it is a project close to JR, as he knows the pitfalls of the Defender and is obsessive about not replicating them. Price wise it might be a shock too - mid 30s for a well specified vehicle. Still, all rumour and noise until the details are revealed.

Those details look really smart. Windscreen wipers look unnervingly small though. I really hop they have been able to include a more spacious driving position. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

That's piqued my interest. Keeping that impressed logo clean could be a bit of a pain though

I wonder if they have brought it forward to pile on the pressure with new Defender sales?

They would only need to launch it as a SWB to really put the clappers up JLR as their “90” now won’t appear in showrooms until Spring 2021 and to add salt to the wounds they could launch it as PHEV............
Jim Ratcliffe must be flush with moneyh at the moment as he purchased BP’s petrolchemical division for £4.5billion this morning.... https://www.theguardian.com/business/2020/...e-plastics Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

BY bringing the styling reveal forwards, they don't have to go to all the bother of hiding it behind camo wrap. No other vehicles in the range to mess up sales with, so why not. Seems sensible to also gather interest while you wait and not allow buyers to get bored and shop else where. If they like what they see they will wait a bit longer.

If it really is priced in the £30k bracket, dread to think what it will do to the resale value of our 'classic' Defenders.

I bet there isn't one member of this forum who doesn't like the look of that in the taster photograph. If you can grab one for under £40k it is seriously going to challenge the 2020 Defender
Sod Boris and his 4th July just let Jim bring on the 1st. I've just noticed that the FB post has only been up for 5 hours and it already has 330 comments! Defender 90XS SW Mini Countryman Cooper S Morgan Plus 8 |

That photo looks like a render though. I asked them if release will be a concept or pre-prod and they said pre-prod. Hopefully it'll actually a photo of a vehicle not a render LR Workshop
