It seems that OEM Developments are now Defender71.
I have no personal experience of their products, but after speaking to the Guy (is it Ian?) at Peterborough last year, he was torn whether or not to go ahead with these headlining as his old supplier had ceased. The other leather bits he had there were very nice. He had taken the stand at last minute and was using the show as a feeler for whether to proceed with the new headlinings. I really liked the Guy, but then I liked the people at Paranoid as well I think if I was going to put a new headlining in, these would be top of the list (rather than a new LR one) |

Interesting read on thief website. I have almost pulled the trigger on a genuine new black headliner from JLR genuine parts.
The defender71 price is nearly the same, lead times longer but not a problem for me. Is the defender71 product that much better? Has anyone seen a headliner to feel? How bad is a genuine one? How soon do they sag? Thanks |

For people looking at this in the south west I use a guy in Taunton who will cover headlinings in material of your choice, very meticulous and good product good prices. He doesn't advertise other than word of mouth so drop a line if you want his number. He currently making up moulds to suit my 130 usw. Cheers

Yes, I haven't used him myself but he is well regarded. Another forum member took is 110 to him last week. WARNING. This post may contain sarcasm. |

Been struggling to get hold of defender71 to see if they do visors as well as the headlining. Worries me a bit that they are that busy they can’t respond. Anyone else I should check out?

I spoke with them on Monday, very helpful and knowledgable. I have put myself on the waiting list for a 110 head lining. I asked about sun visors and was told they will likely do them on an exchange basis. |

Thanks. I’ve seen that, seems a bit cheaper than everywhere else so would rather here from someone that has it from a quality perspective than jump straight in. Anybody got one? Last edited by Co1 on 29th Jun 2020 7:17am. Edited 1 time in total |

Defender71 seem to be the only people trying to fix the saggy material issue. I think most have experienced the standard trim falling off over the years, and I can’t see bonding different material to the same poor sub base will cure the problem. It might prolong it I guess if the right glue is used.
For the money (which I think is actually very reasonable considering it’s a fully tested state of the art process and not a recovered product) , I’m sticking with my defender71 order rather than pay twice. |

So has anyone ordered and received the Defender71 headlining?
Any good? Rich |

I was looking at one to begin with, but I’m still waiting for them to get back to me with availability. I went with Masai instead. The quality is great. The headlining itself is much stiffer than one came out in order to combat the sagging issue. Have a look on their website if you’re interested as they have a few vids on it.

It looks like the Masai one has a GRP / Fibreglass shell, similar to the LaSalle ones, not compressed card/fibreboard similar to the original ones.
I'll be in the market for a new headlining soon, always good to have some different options! |
