Yesterday it was raining so I went out and hung a tee shirt over the headlight area of the Defender. Once the rain did the business and the tee shirt clung to the side light it was just like being at a wet tee shirt contest. Always cheers me up doing that.

^^ Likewise, except for transferring my base of operations from the office to home it has been business as usual for me, thanks to the wonders of technology. It is only a little annoying when people ask if you've enjoyed "3 months off" and are you looking forward to going "back to work" when you've never stopped.

I am the same as you two and I am working from home, probably harder and longer hours than I was when I worked in the office.
In answer to that same question I have loved working from home and I am not looking forward to resuming the commute via traffic jams and buses that are late or don’t turn up. I have my dog with me, I have the radio on, I have it on what station I want and as loud as I want. I am finding that working remote from people I didn’t really get on with is easier as you speak when you need to about what you need to and the rest of the waffle I am oblivious to. Still got Microsoft Teams and WhatsApp to keep in touch with those people you do miss seeing everyday 👍 I count myself and my wife very lucky that we have the space to work independently at home and neither of us have been furloughed. I would think being furloughed, although allowing you to keep your job and get some money coming in, could be a very worrying time for some? So have I enjoyed my three months out of the office? Ho yes, I have loved it 
And what’s more, it looks like rain so I have a white tee shirt ready. I can see the front of my Defender from where I work so happy days |

mainly at work on my own some so have just carried on as 'normal'........longer and more awkward than usual simply because everything seems t take 10x times longer for what should be easy peasy stuff.........

I'm much the same. My wife has her own business and has worked from home for years. I've relocated to home with little fuss and have saved myself an hour+ each day in travel time. We had a virtual team meeting yesterday and reached the conclusion that we'll never go back.

Another WFH person as well. Have worked (like others) since this broke out. 21.5years of working in the same office and never from home was quite a change. Always said I would rather be in the office than home. Now I have adjusted to it, I am getting used to it.
I have been in the office about 4 times since March but only for hardware audit/faulty hardware. Mrs works in a supermarket and has worked through this, and I have moved to the spare room rather than the dining room table. I don't see us being back in the office this year on a work basis, maybe only to clear it out. In fact I don't see us being back in the office in a full time setup ever. Saved a fair few quid on fuel (plus what I don't use for motorsport activities) and had four flat batteries.. I've always done a bit from home, just a day or so a week. Being at home full time since early March has been great / tricky / liberating / suffocating depending the day, the weather, the kids, the sheep, the dogs etc.
I went back to an office for the first time on Wednesday and it was great to meet people and see how that particular business operates, what the challenges are etc. It was odd leaving home at 7 and getting home at 18.30, but the change of scene was refreshing. Everything was set up correctly to be socially distant at 2m+, hand sanitiser everywhere etc. and no one failed to respect the space. I couldn't work at home full time, I'd miss the interaction too much. I find it is also good to get away from home to appreciate what you've missed when you get back! |
