At a guess, the chassis was manufactured June 1995😀

thanks for the link and guess. I checked out several VIN decoders. I couldn't find any that provide the month for the year of production.

It is the month and year that GKN built the chassis. It’s stamped on all them usually right hand side in front or behind front bulkhead outrigger. Easy way to tell if vehicle is younger that it is supposed to be ie dodgy Newer vehicle on scrapped older vehicle vin plate.

Nope, but I’ve owned over fifty defenders and worked on a whole lot more and they all have them.

yeah I tried several online VIN decoders, but they seem to only provide the production year. from what I've seen none of them indicate the month and year of production.

Like I said, try using www.vindecoderz.com - I have just done it for a Freelander 2 we have just sold & it confirmed the full date of manufacture

I appreciate the advice, but for older Defenders that date section is blank. I'm looking at a 1995 VIN.

There's not really any data on build dates before around 1998 LR Workshop
