Not charging :-(
All was well. Started off fine, went to the jet wash. Started the car, battery light stays on.

Drive for 5 mins, intermittent battery light but still no charge.
Check fuses all look good.
Check output from alternator, 11.7v Sad

Got the battery on the CTEK at the mo.
Before I buy another alternator...any more things to check? 1999 Defender TD5 110

Sounds like alternator I’m afraid. If it’s only 11.7v switched on sounds like rectifier circuit has blown a diode or two check with engine running and ancillary son should be an output of about 14v sorry 😐

Did you jetwash the engine compartment?

Otherwise classic symptoms of a failed alternator, usually in my experience on a TD5 because the vacuum pump has filled the alternator with oily gunk. If so, my advice is bite the bullet and fit a.new OE quality alternator and pump

Worth checking that the multipoint loom that plugs in the back of it is still plugged in and not full of crap
Did you jet wash the alt at point blank range? Insta: @thebenjordan4x4

No jet washing of engine bay took place. Just a unahppy coincidence I think. Sad
I did check the multiplug and still attached. 11.7v at the back of the alty with engine running.
Also checked the brake lights worked - and they do. 1999 Defender TD5 110

No jetwashing the engine bay.,

There is oil on the alty and on some pipes below. Another Denso to order, last one was about 2-3 years ago 1999 Defender TD5 110

I would take the alternator apart and have a look. Could be as simple as a stuck Carbon brush (Is that correct englisch?)

It could be that the 11.7 Volt is the battery with the fuel pump running etc. I think the alternator is doing nothing. Roel

Sadly it seems to be really difficult to find spare parts (like slip rings and brushes) for the TD5 alternator.

it does appear difficult to find parts Sad
The alternator is out. Two awkward bits, removing the multipin plug from the rear and the bottom oil drain pipe.
On the plus side, I found the original reciept for the alternator dated late 2018, so just under warranty(i hope).
I have sent an email to the company I got the alternator from, so lets see what they have to say. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Cheers DS. I still have the original one that was replaced by this one that has failed!l, so might run that one down to the autosparks place to see if they can ID the failed parts. 1999 Defender TD5 110
