Help!!! A Frame forward bush
Hi there

I hope that somebody can help in that.

The BUSH-REAR SUSPENSION UPPER LINK marked as 3 in this diagram is broken.

I was not sure about which piece should I buy (PN NTC1772 or ANR4164) so due the low price I bougth both.
Main problem is that the NTC1772 (bigger external diameter) fits well in the piece 2 but the hole for the bolt is too small. If I change the bolt for a low diameter the bolt will be loose in the chassis.

Any ideas if I'm wrong with the part number or have an special mounting procedure?

Thanks in advance Eduardo

NTC1772 is a lower trailing arm mount, not the A frame bush.

NTC1773 is used up to Chassis number 9A768936

ANR4164 is after after chassis number 9A768937 (this uses a smaller 16mm bolt)

I am now really confused!

The online parts lists confirm the statement above and list NTC1773 for the earlier type (1987 to 9A768936), and ANR4164 for the later type but explicitly state that this (the ANR) is for a 16mm bolt.

However I have just bought a pair of genuine NTC1773 bushes and can say with absolute certainty that they are the wrong ones for the vehicles with the 3/4 UNF bolt, the hole in the bush is for a 16mm bolt.

So does anyone know what is the correct part number for the bush for the 3/4"UNF bolt ?

Eduardo, did you sort yours in the end?

You know, that was exactly what I was beginning to think! There seem to be many photos online of NTC1773 which appear to have the correct size of hole, i.e., larger than the ones in mine. Big Cry

Definitely the wrong part in the right packaging in that case. Twisted Evil

Just when you think your opinion of JLR couldn't get any lower! Yes, I know it isn't JLR, it will be the manufacturer or Catapillar (or whoever runs the parts network now) but it is still JLR that gets the bad rep.

It might actually be possible to bore out the centre hole since all dimensions seem to be the same except for the thickness of the centre tube, which is much thicker on the M16 version. The o/d of the inner tube is the same on both bushes.

Thank you to all for the info on this post, the diagrams for this is very confusing.

My 90 also has the imperial 3/4” UNF (19.05mm metric approx) bolts, and not M16.
So I am now satisfied I have the correct PN’s but will still double check on arrival.

I bought the Gwynn Lewis greasable A frame ball joint too along with bolts as there is some play in both ball joint and bushes I noticed.
On top of the rear damper bushes I’ve replaced as well, always good to have a general check of everything whilst doing other jobs. WeWillWin🇬🇧🇺🇸

Update on above, bought the correct parts. All correct sizing for mine.

Got it fitted the other day and all fitted correctly and the issues I had now gone.

New Gywn Lewis greasable A frame ball joint and fixings, new Genuine pair of A frame to chassis bushes and fixings for those too.

No more loose rear end, rattle and excess movement gone. Feels good again. Thumbs Up

82k out of the original genuine A frame ball joint so can’t complain at all at that. Thumbs Up WeWillWin🇬🇧🇺🇸
