The people to whom it should have been targeted will also never use it as it is (primarily) too expensive, but also doesn’t offer the same benefits as I highlighted above.

So, personally, reviews are of no real interest, likewise its capabilities off road; at least not as a Defender. As a large, robust, family SUV, maybe. But that’s not what interests me, nor is it what maintains my passion for the current Defender. And dare I speak for others, that’s not what this site is about either. If you look at the various sections Martin has created on this forum, how many relate to the new Defender? Arguably, all of them, so flip it around and ask how many new owners will relate to the sections? Maintenance and Modifications, In-Car Electronics, Camping, Overlanding, Series, V8, Spotted, Pictures etc. I’d suggest very, very few new owners will be interested in any of those subjects, whether they’re on this site or a dedicated New Defender site. Which, I feel highlights by just how much McGovern has missed what the point of the Defender was, at least until it stopped being built 2016. Such a shame Sad


yes lets see how the defender withstands roads in Australia from punishing corrugations which test vehicles to their limits , i still cant believe they did no testing in Australia which is one of the biggest markets for their competitors , i don't believe the suspension design will withstand Australian conditions.

As I posted earlier my daughter got her first car some months ago. It is a 1999 300 tdi 7 seat station wagon. In the future how many daughters will get a current 21 year old Defender as their first car? Says it all... 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Seeing most Discovery and Range Rover Sports can cope with the punishment that Australia's corrugations can throw
at them in stock form rather than modified , and LR's claim that the Defender has far more robust suspension components
than the L320, L319, then i would think the L663 will handle what Australia can throw at it.. although it does not distract
from your point about it would have been nice to see a few here getting some local testing.. personally I am not worried
about the suspension based upon my experiences in the Rangie Sport, i will however be adding additional armor to the
under body when my Defender turns up yet another pommie bar steward down under

Anything can be done, it just comes down to economics and wether people are prepared to pay the price. But then when the RAI for the new Defender is £900, it's going to be a rich mans car 110 D250 SE HT

I’m sure it won’t be too long before companies like PowerfulUk, the other aftermarket specialists and the 4x4 specialists will have Suitable offroad parts for L663 on their websites. I already have the front bash plate on mine as a dealer option based on experience with L494 and L320 offroad - both of those cars had them as dealer fitted before delivery after seeing what happened to other owners I’m glad I had them. The aero underside plates do look poorly designed in my eyes but I suppose that as well as being aero efficient they also have to let some cooling through too. The only issue I had in previous cars with underbody protection was having to pay an extra hour of labour come service time for the extra time needed to access the bit that required servicing underneath the car - in the end I got the village garage to take them off and pressure wash the underside before the cars went in to the dealership service bays - £30 an hour at the village garage (also Landie Independents) And the chance to look at the underside myself was much better value than paying for someone at the dealership £120/hour just to take it off and put it on! The local agricultural engineers run Discovery 2’s and 4x4 Transits and Renault vans as mobile workshops and I know that they have made their own underside protection for the D2 and Transits so might see what they can do for me. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

Plus the undertrays don't look very substantial. Metal will always be better from a protection point of view. I like the idea of giving an indie the job of removing and cleaning before it goes to dealer for work/servicing. 110 D250 SE HT

Once the warranty ran out the Indie got the servicing as well. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

..for anyone who is expecting proper review, just be patient and wait a little bit longer, until this new disco, comes in to hands of people who care not for what JLR will think about test result..you cant really expect an honest review from someone who borrowed vehicle from manufacturer..so, just sit tight and wait..it will be fun.. I'm wondering if something along the lines of what they do for SXS would work:

HMWPE skid plate protection kit
