Interesting to see just what parts are unique and what are shared across RR, RRS, D5, etc.

Those prices are typical of what I'd expect from LR.
£1398 (inc vat) for a set of 5 steel wheels, with no nuts, or tyres.
£1269 for a pair of brake calipers, no pads or discs, plus fitting.

Lloyd Landrover emailed me today, with FANTASTIC NEWS, the new defender isn't selling, they've had to accept stock from LR, and need to shift them. But that's not quite how they put it:

WE HAVE SOME FANTASTIC NEWS

I see from the email that the new Defender has "sophisticated reductive surfaces". According to Collins English Dictionary it states that "reductive" reduces complex things to simple elements. Does that mean they have done away with the plastic chequer plate then? Defender 90XS SW

Yes loads are available at dealers, I was given the choice of 6 1st Editions for immediate delivery at one dealer on Wednesday, unfortunately they didn’t have a Gondwana Stone with e-diff tow pack and Secure-pro within their dealership network - Silver or Green but no bronze ........ Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Given the current situation we’re all in I’m not surprised sales are slow. There was a moment where I was contemplating cancelling mine.

I don’t think many buyers want the first edition. Most seem to ordering cars to their own spec.

I thought JLR were being particularly coy about sales figures ~ graphs with no units and the only talk with numbers mentioned was on line configurations. Basically, trying to talk up the position with very little real substance.

Time will tell.
