Just out of curiosity, is it a straight forward matter to change a headlight/sidelight bulb? 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Won't involve more than removing the front bumper, wing and bonnet. I doubt you'll need to remove the engine.

Just asked as I was talking to someone who needed one changed in his car. He went to the dealer to get it done. Because he had just bought the car the dealer said he would do it free..this time. He normally charges one hour labour plus the cost of the bulb as it is a little awkward. I cannot recall the make of car but it was very modern. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

They are all LED, it will be a dealer job I’d imagine, possibly a new headlight unit.

I suppose LED lights last a long time. Is there not a rule on the continent, maybe in France, that all cars must carry spare bulbs in case one blows? I cannot see people carrying spare LED light units let alone be able to change one at the side of the road.
Just as an aside. I had a look at the specification of a basic 90/110 and even in entry level form, the amount of technology that comes as standard is just jaw dropping. I am not disparaging it in anyway, but to someone like me who does not have or use a mobile phone I'd find it very intimidating. Looking at how to set things up in the video had me completely flustered. No doubt younger people take it all in their stride! 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |

I would find a dash display distracting and I would not be able to concentrate. When we are out the Mrs navigates with an atlas. If we go wrong I keep driving until I can find somewhere to turn then we go back. Old school but it suits us. I suppose a satnav system would be good for a solo driver if it was used in voice only mode.
I cannot see a basic techless Defender as it is probably cheaper to make them all the same and just activate the electronic system necessary. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |

The Velar is the first car I’ve had with the digital dash, now I’ve got used to having it.
Click image to enlarge I still like the old paper map and still keep one in the car. |

To be fair I was quoted the same for upgrading the bulbs on a 2013MY 110. |

I recall costs of £5k for new headlights on a police BMW that had been involved in a hard stop of a suspected stolen vehicle. I would imagine most manufacturers are happy to charge as much as they can... |

It was £6k not including fitting for the two headlights on my Velar, luckily warranty paid that bill.

And people wonder why newish cars are so quick to be written off by insurance companies.
Brother in law had a car in the past with flip paint. That was written off as it was too expensive to respray..... |

Much prefer a solid body colour, I was hoping there would be a couple to choose from but not the case.
