Short Shift SHIFT-R (V2)

Hi all, just fitted a Short Shift-R v2 from TMD. First of all the machining quality and finish of this is superb and TMD are super helpful.

Fitting was about an hour, over half was taking out the carpets/centre console etc to get to the gearshift. Nothing tricky to do - just take care and follow the instructions - stuff plenty of lithum grease in the hole that the plastic cage goes back in.

What's it like to drive - wow!

I have low mileage 90 but the improvement is huge, the gearshift has lost the stiffness and rubbery-ness, there's a satisfying mechanical feel to each shift. It does make a slight metallic clack-clack going into each gear, but I'm fine with that given how positive the shift now is. Don't expect a dual clutch speed of change - it's still a Defender, but very worthwhile update

I'm really happy with mine too.
A bit of a thread revival but but thought I'd post this to show others TMD have a 25% off or similar offer on these right now.
Definitely is an improvement on standard, in fact I found my standard factory assembly was broken and I didn't know.
The nylon plastic ball joint had cracked, without disassembly you wouldn't know.
I wondered why I had poor gear changes, went to grease the system and only then did I find it was broken.
At the time it was replace Genuine vs Shift R, I went for the latter and it's been brilliant.
