Second hand conveyor belt. Tough as old boots, cheap (or free) and unlikely to get nicked.

+1 for old conveyor belt, got some for free from a sand and gravel quarry. It is about 1m wide and was told to help myself from a piece that must have been 100m plus long, I took about 3m which fits under the vehicle just fine.

I have used stable matting , have 10mm thick in the garage, and also conveyor belt. for working outside.
Axle stands are not as stable on the stable matting and my trolley jack digs in and will not roll when you get a lot of weight on it. However, all is good on the conveyor belt , just does not look so pretty if left down permanently. I know someone who keeps some marine ply sheets, 3/4", to cover his tarmac drive, when working on his vehicle |

Yet another one for stable matting - I use 10mm with an amoebic pattern as this is far less intrusive than anything with fake chequer-plate finish or similar and is virtually smooth.
I then use off-cuts of 18mm ply as spreaders under axle stands and/or trolly jack etc. Mine’s been down for 6 years or so in the garage and is perfectly durable - also nicer to walk on than concrete floor! |

Will have a look at the stable matting then. LiftedDisco can you tell me where you got yours, the ones I have looked at so far look a bit too thick And squishy ( technical term ) for what I want, the amoebic pattern would be what I was looking for. |

I can't remember where mine came from as it was actually surplus after we had built and then taken down an ice rink - the rubber matting is perfect for folks walking around on skates and so mine was a bit of a freebie!
However, looking on-line, it would appear to be 12mm, not 10mm, but there seem to be various companies coming up via Google. Good luck in the search! |

Your local horse feed store is the place to ask, if a reasonable size then often a stock item. They are rather heavy!

I dont know of there in your part of the world, but SCATS and MoleValley farmers defo sell them and a selection of thickness .
There way heavier than they look, I used to work for them and always cringed when someone come round to collect a dozen or so
