SVX Indicator Lamp holder
Can anyone tell me where I can get a lamp bulb holder for a SVX 95mm rear indicator

Like the one in the picture

I can only seem to find the full assembly and I am told the lamp holder is slightly different to the normal one?? Not sure if thats correct, looking for guidance.

Cheers folks

I would say check it against a holder from the front but obviously they are different lamps on the SVX.

They should be the same as the XS spec front bulb holders, as they are clear with orange bulbs.

I guess they are different to stop standard white bulbs being fitted.

I will check my 90 in the morning and see if I can find a reference on the indicator bulb holder.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

I've got a vague memory that they're designed for a different type of connector than the standard Econseal. Superseal, maybe?

Here's a pic of the standard holder and its' connector. I can't quite tell if the one in your picture is different or not Confused

The superseal connectors are used on the LED versions of the lamps, the connector shown in the top photo with the silvered bulb is definitely an econoseal.

However the holder on the SVX indicator is grey which seems to be a special holder used with clear indicators which need a bulb that emits orange light.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Ah yes, that was it. My mistake.

There's no difference in the holders for orange bulbs though - certainly not on the front of XS models. Those are standard black holders and will take standard white bulbs (which I've done). Darren

In my experience single filament holders are the same, twin filament bulb holders are different and don't fit lens designed for single filament.

My XS has the same grey bulb holder for the orange bulb clear lens front indicator. The bulb has offset pins and the holder is clearly labelled "PY21W" and only the offset pin bulb fits.

The reverse lamp has a black (honest, under the mud) holder which takes a straight pin 21W bulb (P21W).

The grey holder is also keyed differently compared to the front side light so you can't fit the 21W holder to the 5W lamp - the side lamp body is visibly shallower for the smaller 5W bulb. The lamp bodies are marked "R5W" (shallow side light) and "PY21W P21W" (deeper indicator).

What I missed doing was trying to fit my reverse lamp (black holder) to the grey holder to see if those are keyed the same Embarassed I will do this when I get a chance.

Anyway..

I haven't been able to track down genuine/Perei grey bulb holders on their own - there is no separate LR part number for them. There are new pattern grey holders on eBay, but you take the risk of these being pants.

There is a used complete clear XS front indicator assembly on eBay for a fiver, or you can buy new from Dunbri for £10 but £8 post.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Yes that's the pattern one with the foam gasket rather than the rubber original.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

If I've understood correctly, you are saying that you didn't check whether the reversing lamp has straight or offset pins?

This shows the base layout of the different types.
I have just been out to look at the spares in mine and although it isn't easy to get a clear photo through the packaging, I can confirm that the clear P21W has straight pins ie at say 3'oclock and 9 o'clock. Thumbs Up
(and the amber PY21W has offset pins).

I meant whether the grey holder fits the standard 95mm lamp (reverse) or whether the SVX has a special version to be an indicator.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top
