I think I know what you mean. When I took one for a test drive a few weeks ago I found it necessary to alter my gearchange technique a little and make sure I was off the accellerator a wee bit sooner when pushing the clutch in. I think the fact that it is a freer revving engine to the Td5 or Tdi makes it spin up when the clutch goes in if you're not right off the gas. 2007 Defender 110

One other solution might be to get the clutch adjusted down a bit so it disengages a tad lower. I presume the clutch pedal mechanism is basically the same as the Td5 so probably one turn of the pedal adjustment nut ought to do it. 2007 Defender 110

No neither have this issue. I will ask 10forcash on the disco3 site for the info as he was the person that advised my of this issue in the first place. |

Not noticed it with mine
I thing i have, which i presume it connected with the anti-stall, if you take the revs up to 1500 say, whilst stationary, and then hold, revs will drop back to tick-over in about 6 secs !! Now that I have my vehicle I can confirm that it does blip the revs a couple of hundred RPM on each gearchange. I am still getting used to the feel, but so far I haven't worked out a technique for avoiding this altogether. If I try backing off the throttle sooner I usually get a bad, jerky gearchange so that's obviously not the solution. 2007 Defender 110

I've experienced the same thing and not been able to stop it happening however I try and drive when pushing hard. If anyone has had a fix applied etc., it would be good to have more detail before getting the dealer involved.

I have actually noticed that with harder driving (changing at 3000RPM instead of 2500RPM) this doesn't seem to happen as much. 2007 Defender 110

I have just read this post and having owned my Puma TDCi for over 6 motnhs now and 12k miles I know exactly what people are talking about. It is quite hard to change gear smoothly with the new set up and I am convinced it is something to do with either the anti-stall or dual mass flywheel setup (that has been reported to fail in the Ford Transit). The technique I have predominently been using is not to touch the accelerator at all until the clutch is fully depressed for all gears other than 1st. This seems to work quite well for me. Another thing I have noticed is that you cannot start to accellerate slightly until the clutch is fully depressed when gearing down also as this causes a jolt in the tranmission.
Regards Rich PS nice site especially with a dedicated Puma section. |
