You'll really struggle to get a mirror gloss finish with normal aerosol paints (assuming that's what you're using?)
It might be worth keying the lacquer with a red scotch pad and putting more coats of clear on 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

Hey Grafty thanks for the reply- yes using aerosol, I imagined it looking like the black gloss parts you can buy- turned out quite a long way off!
I’ve heard the aftermarket ones in black gloss aren’t that good compared to the original so keen to keep these. Unless anyone has any aftermarket ones that do look and fit well? Not too keen on the oversized ones (however before any asks I am upgrading the tyres shortly!) Keswick green 2007 Defender 90 TD5 |

I think with careful prepping and more lacquer, you'll be able to get a glossier finish than you have currently. I would stick with genuine. You may find a set of genuine gloss black ones on eBay if you run out of patience 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Not sure how your doing with the black gloss arches, but while looking for something else, saw these and remembered your post : https://cabmasters.com/shop/land-rover-def...ension-x4/ Zaid-M

Hey The Zee- thanks for this and remembering this thread! I've actually spoke to a bodyshop to get them resprayed properly! But may give these guys a call tomorrow to see how much they are. I've heard its worth holding on to the original arches as apparently they fit better? But only what I've heard Keswick green 2007 Defender 90 TD5

Got them finished by a bodyshop in the end. Really happy with the results and there’s no way I would have got the finish with cans.
Also got the bonnet vents finished the same too. For anyone thinking of this I’d definitely recommend getting them done by a bodyshop if you want a real gloss finish Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Keswick green 2007 Defender 90 TD5 |
