I noticed too on the news at lunchtime that he wasn’t allowed to open the Harrogate Nightingale Hospital on his own, he was virtually accompanied by Matt Hancock trying to grab some limelight - I think it was awful that the good Capt couldn’t just be left to have his day of glory without a politician muscling in on it for some publicity Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

Captain Tom 100 today and has raised more than £30M, what a great unassuming chap he is. Nice touch that the Queen conferred the rank of honorary Colonel on him, also great to see the Spitfire and Hurricane fly over where he lives. An inspiration to everyone in these difficult time.

Absolutely, I couldn't agree more!
Excellent flypast as well, full marks to the RAF for doing that (and I suspect for the birthday cake). There is something about the sound of Merlins and/or Griffons flying, especially in multiple, that always brings a lump to my throat. Awesome. I think that the way the 150,000 plus cards were managed was done well too, although I had visions of what would happen if someone had opened the window! |

I often think at times like this how it must have been during the World Wars for his ilk. Yes, us 'front-line' NHS workers are exposed to the risk of the corona virus, but no-ones shooting at me or shelling me!! He epitomises courage, quiet heroism and leadership.
Thank-you Captain Tom from a small corner of the NHS! |

This chap is truly inspirational and he deserves all of the admiration and plaudits that have come his way.
A little part of me though, wishes he'd been made an honorary major, as then he'd be Major Tom Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? You're braver than I thought!" - Princess Leia |

LRA, you’ve just reminded me of a Guardsman (the term used by the Guards for a private soldier) I had in my company who, because of his surname, I always wished was a Captain. Starbuck.... Monsieur Le Grenadier

I used to deal with a Corporal Christmas.
I always thought he should have entered the priesthood. Priests tend to be called Father.... |

Gentlemen, hot of the press about 1 hour ago - Colonel Thomas Moore will be made a Freeman of The City of London tomorrow, Tuesday 12th May at 10am. Apart from being very deserving of the Honour of Freedom of The City, Colonel Moore will also be creating history for the City by being the first ever “virtual” award and this can be viewed by a live stream on YouTube at if you want to watch the ceremony.
