Interior lights only work manually not in 'auto'
I am hoping this turns out to be a stupid question - so it is an easy fix Very Happy

Both interior lights in my 110 utility only work if I switch them on manually. If I leave them in the auto position then they do not come on when a door is opened.

Logic suggests that it cannot be the fuse because they work manually and I am guessing that all of the door switches cannot be faulty (I could understand if it was one of them).

Does anyone have any suggestion as to what this could be please?

Thank you very much inadvance.

It will probably be your door switches have either broken or corroded through . Open your door and give the little button a wriggle , it may need pulling out if it’s been distorted . If the lights come on , then that’s your problem, relatively easy fix ! https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/

The alarm ECU receives the door switch inputs and switches a 12V ground feed to the interior light(s) when a door is opened.

There are two door switch inputs to the ECU: one for the driver's door and one for all the other doors in parallel

Unlikely all the door switches are faulty but you never know Laughing

Check Fuses 6 and 7 which are the supply to the alarm ECU.

as above check the fuses and the door switches first. I had the exact same symptoms as you have mentioned, changed the fuses and checked the door pins and both were fine however the light would still not function in the auto setting, I took the off chance that it was the light that was faulty and purchased an Mud LED one and that fixed the problem so in my case the unit itself was broken. Just something worth considering after you have tried the usual culprits.

Thanks everyone.

The door switches seem to wiggle fine and look to be in perfect condition.

I have not checked those fuses yet but I will do so. The alarm should be OK though because the little red LED in the dash flashes as per the owners manual.

I would not think both light units would be faulty.

Thanks again.

Something else has just occured to me, aren't the indicators supposed to flash 3 times when you lock the car?

Mine don't so maybe the alarm has got an issue.

Anyway I will check fuses 6 and 7 as soon as I get a chance.
