Are these instrument packs just plug 'n' play or do they need fettling before they'll work?

I agree, the defender speedo pods don't have the middle lcd panel.

if you need a speedo, they are about £`160 from Land Rover but (and it's a big BUT), you need to engage with land rover customer services (

) to get them to synchronise your ecu to the head unit.

it's also possible to purchase second hand units from breakers for alot less
