I am pleased to be able to offer you the very first available Nanocom 2nd generation Evolutions at the Billing LandRover show.
These are the first production units and are very limited stock. They are on a collect from the show basis ONLY. Sorry I can not take ANY mail orders for these limited stock units at this time. They are priced at the show at 349+vat and come with 2 unlock codes which equates to 1 car models worth of unlock codes as part of the purchase. Extra unlock codes for cars/modules can be added from only 55+vat. Some pictures are below which tell there own storey of the 2nd generation device, which as you see is in an aluminium cased with a very nice colour touch screen as you would expect. I am here at Bliing all weekend for people to come talk, try, test, prod and ask questions. Pete |

Hi Lorryman100
Software wise, both the original and this updated Evolution run exactly the same software. This new generation unit is however already currently loaded with the latest software version, which has not yet been relesed as an update for the original Evolution, but is expected to be so in the next week or two. The coverage and capabilaties are near identical to that of the Faultmate MSV-2, although it is a fully stand alone unit. But the big difference is this is not a Single Vehicle system and it therefore not VIN locked. Hardware wise, this version is massively improved over the older bulky plastic box with nasty cut outs of the original. The pictures I posted do not really show how much smaller this version is, especially how much thinner it is. So here are a couple of pictures of the end. http://www.bellautoservices.co.uk/public/evo2/EVO2-OBD-End.jpg By the size of the standard connector and DC socket you can tell how small it is. Here is the other end with the SD card slot and the USB conection. http://www.bellautoservices.co.uk/public/e...rd-End.jpg The case is now Aluminium and feels very tough, I carry mine in my pocket :LOL Although it must have cost a bit to develope this new hardware version, Colin of BBS tells me they will not be incresing the price for it from the original one which with their 15% VAT, shipping and so on comes to about the same which is 349 GBP. I also have to pay the shipping from them to me and have to charge UK VAT at 20%. Because these are the first and only ones available anywere and buyers can get one immediately, I think my price for the limited few I have is a very good deal. The MSV-2 Extreme kit with BBS’s 15% VAT, shipping and so on comes to about 542 GBP delivered, so there is a big saving. Pete Last edited by bell-auto-services on 15th Jul 2011 10:07pm. Cheers Pete, that explains the price difference Any heads up on what has been changed software wise? Especially the ability to show tested/untested dtc's, also will there be a graphic viewer available that will read the csv files instead of having to faff about with excel to read the captured live data? Not to be too pedantic either but the BBS site lists the msv2 extreme kit for the Puma at £478.24 inc vat + delivery, how close are the two units in functionality as a diagnostic. The reason I ask is that for the last couple of months I have had the on/off use of a vin free nano msv2 to play around with and I like the system better than the old nanocom evolution, however the nano needs a laptop and the nanocom doesn't hence the interest in the extreme msv2 vin locked kit/new nanocom 2 for my landrover, basically to sit in the safe until needed. I also sent an email to BBS this afternoon asking the same questions so any info from you or Colin would be appreciated.

Hiya Brian
I hope you don't mind me dropping in to help out a bit here as i know Pete is a bit busy with the Billing show this weekend especially. Mind with recent events here regards the massive explosion wiping out 50% of the islands electricity, we certainly have enough of our own problems. In respect of access and capability to system provided data, the Nanocom actually has the same functionality, although i will have to check up on the Nanocoms ability with NTDTC's, i suspect it does not provide these. In addition, it certainly does not provide the features and functions that Vehicle explorer does in respect of HTML page saving, CSV, raw data capture or AVI capture. Frankly Brian, it sounds to me like you have already discovered the reason why investors in the BBS MSV-2 have no reason for complaint, even although there are seemingly lower cost alternates that appear to offer the same but actually do not. If price is a problem, then the Evolution provides the most capability for your money and our revision of the hardware while keeping the price the same, and of which we have indeed given pete almost 2 months availiablity excusive on really makes this a no Brainer. But if you want all this and a huge amount of additional bells and whistles then you really need to consider paying a little bit more and go for the MSV-2 . |

Hi Colin,
when I first saw Pete's post and the price of the nanocom 2 my first thoughts were that from the pictures the hardware/ergonomics have been improved and I was thinking that maybe there was also more software options available to match it closer to the MSV2 as there was little initial difference in price between the Nanocom 2 Pete is selling and the MSV2 Extreme that your website sells. Pete has explained earlier the difference, and the kudos to own the new model reflects this in it's asking price. I will say however that given the choice, for the difference in price the msv2 is a much better diagnostic tool than the nanocom and the extra £60 is a no brainer when it comes to choosing between them IMHO. This however is not to slate the original nanocom evo as this is a very capable machine for stand alone diagnostics on your Landrover, it just has some limitations in it's ability just now! Maybe I'm a little spoiled for choice, as I have got more and more into the diagnostic side of the Defender I may have went a little overboard on purchasing diagnostic tools. These being an IDS/VCM unit, a Hawkeye and the two nanocom units Puma only and Puma/Td5/D2 version (Long story on how I ended up with two, impatience was the main cause though ) plus the occasional use of a nano msv2! So I know from experience that each tool does different things but at the same time they all do the same thing but some do it better if you get were I'm coming from!. And on the whole for portability the nanocom wins hands down as it is the only stand alone, do all unit I have. So in fairness to myself I will now go and purchase a MSV2 Extreme so I can see for myself which system works the best for me as a stand alone unit which will live most of it's life in the Landies safe ready for the inevitable breakdown. Hiya Brian
As you note the Nanocom Evolution is quite a capable piece of kit and being fully stand alone it is a bit different, hence we stepped in to take it on board and effectively try to save it. I know many were initally skeptical of our intent, but now were are showing our true colours with upgardes being released for all Nanocoms including the origional steel cased Nanocom ones. Our hardware re work of the evolution is really quite breathtaking and we are doing a lot of software improvements all around and in many cases freely adding missing coverage for everyone. But for absolutely all the bells and whistles you can imagine, like HTML page saving, AVI and CSV, no system has really ever been able to hold a candle to the penultimacy of the MSV-2. It is no exaggeration to state how synonomous recognised and renowned this system has become on all boards for providing the absolute ultimate in capability and functionality that has helped countless owners achive modifications that dealers could only dream of. As someone with obviously clear knowledge and experience of pretty much every tool on the market, it speaks volumes that you are electing to now purchase an MSV-2 Extreme. I know you will not be dissapointed. |
