What year of vehicle have you got and does it have a heated windscreen fitted?
A TD5 without heated screen has a suitable live terminal and fuse position in the underseat fusebox which you can use. There is no spare ignition live though. You should be able to pick up an ignition live (white with green stripe) from the ECU connections though and use this to switch an additional relay. Steve 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread |

You can take the permanent live for your relay, from C0575 using an M5 eyelet -
![]() Click image to enlarge You take the ignition-switched live to trigger the relay, from the speed transducer C0195 pin 1 - ![]() Click image to enlarge C0195 is a 3-way female Econoseal connector - you can tap-off the ignition-switched live, using an inline male to female link, with a wire piggy-backed off of pin 1, to the relay in the fuse box compartment. Paul, did you draw the wiring diagram? if so, what software did you use? Looks very pro.

The connector faces are .jpg files - screen-grabbed from the RAVE and TOPIX pages.
I've then rotated or flipped them and swapped around the cavity numbers to suit. I've then put them into a PowerPoint slide, sized and positioned them, and drawn the coloured lines representing the cables to connect them. The relay was made entirely of PowerPoint drawing objects. Might be easier to take permanent live direct from battery to the relay and then switched live from the cigar lighter.
Depending on where you plan to have the aux fusebox of course. |

I’m going to follow this excellent solution too. I’m not too experienced in auto electrical so I’m wondering how I might go about neatly waterproofing the green/white 3-way splice? Any suggestions please. |

I just wrapped the wire splice in electrical tape. No need for the additional harness. Unless you're going through deep water on a regular basis will be fine. I've had mine up to the bonnet many a time and all works ok.

Boxoftricks, ok that’s great. Thank you. Most unlikely I’ll be doing much wading either.

@rockster57, I'm a bit late to one but did you get this to work and did you modify it in any way? I'm just about to embark on adding power to my seat heater relays but can't help but wonder if there's a better source for the relay trigger (ignition live) when there's a huge bunch of wires right there in the driver's seat box without having to delve underneath to the gearbox????
