I have STD LR expo rack in the 110 and I am looking for ways to attach / secure items without having to drill and bolt through the tubing.
One specific task is to secure a Thule roof bar across the rear of the rack Can anyone advise what they use ( pics) welcome. Ideally some form of clamp but not a ubolt. Cheers. Defender 110 County SW Disco 3 HSE Freelander 2 HSE - SOLD going back to a car www.lothian4x4response.org |

Hi Bob. Thanks for the reply.
I have used these before with the front runner rack I had on my 90. But I cannot see a way of attaching to the tube frame without drilling. https://www.defender2.net/gallery/displayi...&pos=3 These would be useful if I had a floor on the rack. The idea of putting Thule roof bars across is two fold. I have these in garage and they could be a good way to put the roof box on whilst still having space under for camping table etc . I lose all rear space to the dogs ! Secondly when out at motorsport events I occasionally use a Amber light bar which is on a bar and would be easy to take on off when not needed. When I had a Safety Devices rack on my old Discovery, I used some large rubber coated 'P' clips to attached various lightweight things. For heavier stuff, I used 'U' bolts to good effect.
I also bought, but never used, some stainless saddle clamps from a chandlers. As I've now got a LR expedition rack on my 110, I plan to use them to fix some flooring - haven't decided whether to use ply or chequer plate yet, but they should work with either. Thanks.
I think the P clamps might be a bit light but the right saddle clamps might do the trick. Now to find the right ones online as no local chandlers that I can visit. Defender 110 County SW Disco 3 HSE Freelander 2 HSE - SOLD going back to a car www.lothian4x4response.org |
