Terrafirma HID Spotlights
Hi Shocked We got a pair of 8" HID Terrafirma spotlights in November and one of them has stopped working recently. I'm guessing its the bulb as it's got a little bit of a brown mark where the other one doesn't. What i'm asking is, is this normal for the bulbs to only last 8 months or so as they were pretty pricey? The Landrover very rarely gets used in the dark. Thought i'd ask people's opinions on here before deciding whether to approach the retailer. Many Thanks Paul & Tash Thumbs Up

Surely if you bought them from a retailer, they should have 12months warranty?

hi diesel jim i was wandering about that but wasnt sure if it was unreasonable to expect a HID bulb to last 12 months,i was certainly hoping they would last longer than they have, just interested to hear comments on this as ive never had a pair of HID spotlights before cheers paul n tash Thumbs Up

From my experience of terrafirma stuff, this does not surprise me. It is all made to a cost.

Sorry

I have got Lightforce 240XGTs and the filaments have given me excellent service and sufficient illumination for over two years. The same lights in HID were over £700 more expensive!

All filaments, bulbs or lamps (whatever you want to call them) usually have a 'predicted' hour life. Difficult to prove the duration of illumination of your lights but if you can find out what the 'predicted' figure may be you could possibly use that as a lever to get a replacement! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!!

One of the supposed advantages of HID lamps, apart from their performance, is the long life of the lamp.

Most of the cars I have owned in the last 10 year have had Hid lamps and I have never had to replace a bulb.

Suggest you go back to the retailer, presuming of course you have checked the power supply, earth etc. Richard

Yeah, i've had a couple of sets sent over from the States now. They even honour the sealed beam units (but not the halogen filament bulbs) Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Hi philthebaker this post is a blast from the past wurzell was my original forum name but after a break away from defender ownership I couldn't log back in so hence now being barneyboy, anyway re the lights they were well in warranty so didn't want to mess with them the guy I used to use who supplied and fitted them was very good and replaced the pair with no qualms,I'm sure they've come on in leaps and bounds over the last 6 years but I've got to say those lights were bloody bright Thumbs Up cheers Paul

I have a pair of KC lights brought in by a mate from the States.
Much cheaper than UK but not cheap ,however, they are REALLY good.
The 23 year was a bonus!
