Check if clutch-PAS-(propshafts/nipples) and other parts have been changed. Search for 2007 in this forum. Puma 110" SW

Quite simple. If there is an 07 puma you are interested in, get the VIN, go to topix and check wether the service bulletins have been done. If yes, there are only a few things. Never forget: cars have owner, Landrover have field service personnel.

I agree with ninetyTd4. Also the first Puma suffered from some poor/weak parts (clutch plate, gear box etc.) which ought to have all been changed on them and never fitted in the newer ones. I think in fact some would argue that 2007s build quality might have been better than say 2010.
I reckon check the updates and recalls have been done and then go for it |

My 10/2007 has 42,000km on it now. I have had it 2 years as it was purchased with 15,000km on the clock. It has had the clutch replaced under warranty at 20,000km and the transfer case output shaft seal done under warranty. It is used regularly off bitumen as I am a member of two four wheel drive clubs and has also done a few long stints (e.g. 4 x 3000km trips each over a few weeks on highways and tracks. Found it a great drive, economical and the best 4 wheel drive on the bush tracks I have ever owned. Seems to do everything I want with little effort and seems so much fun to drive.
After driving in the rain for a few hours I get a little water dripping onto the passenger floor foot well which is a recent problem which I have to sort out. No rust at all, paint still seems good, no gearbox problems, no oil leaks, no transmission noises and only has a squeek in the suspension when stopping or starting off (probably dirt in a suspension bush or spring mount). All I can say is mine seems to be reliable and enjoyable to drive. Would I trust it to take me to the Australian deserts and outback areas which I have done regularly in the past with Toyota, Ford and Holden 4 wheel drives? Yep, no worries. As others have suggested, check that the recall repairs have been done and it has a good service history. If a vehicle is highly modified then it might have more problems as it might have been pushed more off road, although this is more difficult to check. I am very happy with my Defender and the only time I seen the dealer is at routine service time. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. |
