Rear door sill replacements tips
Hi All, in my lockdown quest of tidying up the rear end of my 90 I am looking at changing the rear door sill that looks like it has come off the titanic (as pictured below).

I have the part from PowerfulUK (https://www.powerfuluk.com/land-rover-defe...l-kit.html) however was wondering if anyone having done this themselves have any tips or tricks?

I also really want to retouch the green paintwork around the rear body mount fixings- my first time painting any body work- is it quite easy to a good finish with etch primer and a spray can if the area is sanded down well? Any advice gratefully received!

Its' really just a case of unscrewing the fixings from the old one, lifting it out, cleaning out accumulated crud and replacing with the new one. It only becomes more difficult if the screws are rusty, which may mean they have to be drilled out. On a good day, it's a ten minute job. Darren

don't leave it as long as this one.

they used bigger slotted screws as well.
when you fit the new one use plenty of anti rust grease paste or coppaslip on the screws and bottom of the plate unless its a stainless one.

this put a good fight up but lost in the end.

Turned out to be the unfortunate option of drilling it out LandRoverAnorak but managed it in the end!

Thanks for the tips Mdm to be fair mine looked pretty bad once I’d taken it off! Gave it a bit of a respray whilst off too which tidied up the rear body mount holes.

Thanks Co1 & Mdm.

Doc P did it with the kit from
Buzzweld- highly recommend just spend a lot of time getting it prepped before starting-

A lovely clean job. Is the door seal upside down?

Neutral Not sure Keith- I was trying to work it out when I was fitting it. Door seems to close well against the seal but it could well be upside down- I’m very new to all of this!

All I know if it is upside down it’s staying that way! Keswick green 2007 Defender 90 TD5

Looks like the channel in the rubber should be to the underside but may well not make much difference.
Iv also got mine off and of course there had to be one screw break off. Big Cry
