Time for a little update but a very important one. My new waste gate actuator came a couple of days ago which was then next thing to look into on my ongoing high rpm misfire saga. After what felt like an hour getting the turbocharger heat shield off I could finally remove the actuator. Now to my surprise the actuator still worked albeit a bit stiff so I just replaced it anyway but that exposed the true culprit, the waste gate itself. So this thing was completely seized and after half an hour of getting it nice and loose it all went back together.
Click image to enlarge Now I am happy to confirm that now the td5 drives wonderfully. You can feel power now although its still weak coming from v8s so a remap is still on the table. Now I can cruise at 70 all day with power to accelerate if I would like to go faster. And the best part, not a single misfire! And on a side not props to Halfords being open on a Sunday, lost the actuator circlip and they saved the day with these bad boys Click image to enlarge 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 td5 station wagon 1998 Land Rover Defender 110 County Station Wagon ~ Sold 1995 Land Rover Defender 110 V8 Station Wagon ~ Sold 1985 Land Rover 110 ex mod project Tithonus ~ Sold |

Today I went to pick up a Brownchurch heavy duty rack, coincidentally the one that Clayton sent me a link for a few days ago. We agreed to meet the bloke half way between me and him in Arundel to minimise the risk of getting caught "non essentially" travelling.
Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge The missing rail, extra supports and ladder were all included and will be fitted another day. He even included a free, although kinda dirty, awning. All this for 100 quid so Im pretty chuffed. Although if anyone has a Brownchurch hd rack with the jerry can holder on the back and is looking to part then Id happily take it of said persons hands still 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 td5 station wagon 1998 Land Rover Defender 110 County Station Wagon ~ Sold 1995 Land Rover Defender 110 V8 Station Wagon ~ Sold 1985 Land Rover 110 ex mod project Tithonus ~ Sold |

Time for a little update. Now my Range Rover has gone to its new home where it can be appreciated. This means it is finally time to start some of the modifications I've been rambling on about so much on here. As of today, this is how the Land Rover stands.
Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Im not sure whether I will update this thread with each change I make or wait till I have completed everything I have been planning to do with these funds. Either way good things are definitely coming very soon on this thread 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 td5 station wagon 1998 Land Rover Defender 110 County Station Wagon ~ Sold 1995 Land Rover Defender 110 V8 Station Wagon ~ Sold 1985 Land Rover 110 ex mod project Tithonus ~ Sold |

Was hoping to have some nice new wheels to show you all this week but alas they turned out to be out of stock so it'll be a couple of weeks before they can be revealed. In the mean time I have been collecting all the replacement parts needed to be fitted during and after the paint job, which all going well with be booked for mid May and will take two weeks to complete.
Click image to enlarge These parts include new sills, bonnet, grill, light surrounds, vents, wing top snorkel, bonnet spare wheel carrier and the list goes on. So basically everything other than the new rear door has arrived ready. I also performed a service today replacing oil, oil filters and the air filter which turned out to be the most difficult service of my life thanks to an oil filter which was so hard to remove that it genuinely makes me wonder if it was ever replaced since it left the factory. Anyway after an embarrassing amount of time all is sorted for another 6k miles 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 td5 station wagon 1998 Land Rover Defender 110 County Station Wagon ~ Sold 1995 Land Rover Defender 110 V8 Station Wagon ~ Sold 1985 Land Rover 110 ex mod project Tithonus ~ Sold |

With the wheels not on yet, it just makes the wait a bit more exciting
I think that collecting the bits and pieces is one of the best bits and once you have got them all, it's all go Clayton. 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper. |
