The middle of a worldwide crisis and teetering on the abyss of another global recession, is just the time to add £25k to an already expensive (overpriced?) car.....

Still a defender though right? Same factory, build parts, build quality and laxidasic approach to tolerances - I can’t see its value either 25k up or 50k down - does it rust a slower rate 😂

I think people who have the wherewithal to spend that sort of money on a car will still buy it if they want it. I’m still seeing some high end classic cars making strong money.

My Uncle (who lives in NZ), bought one of these, a 2017 Holden Ute SSV Redline.
Headline facts: 6.2l LS3 V8 (naturally aspirated) 400+BHP 570nm Six-speed auto 0-60mph: 5 seconds Brembo 6-pots Leather throughout, Metallic Paint 8" Touch screen Etc etc etc Priced, new $Aus46,000 or in proper money, £23,000 https://performancedrive.com.au/2017-holde...ideo-1521/ Clearly there will be a 'premium' because it is LR, it is Ltd Ed, it is a Jag V8 with it's sexy auto gearbox, it's been tuned ny Bowler (for those that know/it matters) etc etc, but perhaps the Holden puts the Works V8 price into perspective? It does look really nice but there again for that amount of money you'd expect something special. My wet shaggy dog would just love that interior Defender 90XS SW

They truly are fabulous bits of kit... my only thought is that I would want to have an internal roll cage as the prospect of it all going horribly wrong at some stage could get a bit messy.
We loaded garden stuff into a 110 prototype and took it to the tip... caused a massive stir when fired up, had another prototype on the drive most weekends whilst being tested before launch and then one of our family decided to take one to a wedding... in Scotland...! As the old joke goes... it went past everything except a petrol station... Having said that, if I was building a dream garage, I think it would be very much part of the mix! |

Nice car,...nothing like a V8! We have the last HSV Sedan (GTSR) version, of your Uncle's Ute! LSA 6.2L Supercharged V8, 600HP, 745NM. 0-60, 4.14. 20" wheels, 410mm AP 6 spot brakes. Bought it because it was the "last of the last" (No more cars made in aus). Can't even drive it at all now, 'cause we're all in lockdown! I love the "Works V8", what were they 150,000 pounds new?..I heard they were pretty much all pre sold,....did they all have that white trim,...I'm not too keen on it. Pickles. |

Agreed. But frankly for less money I’d go Bowler Bulldog. Then you get the Dakar spec chassis, roll cage, odo and monster suspension to boot. Pickles, yup £150,000 ($Aus 300,000). And all sold. Bet your GTSR didn’t cost that much and it’s a far more modern car. Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Hello Mr. Grenadier, GTSR would be about Fifty five thousand pounds in your money I reckon, cost $110K in Aussie. Haven't seen a Works V8 in Aus, haven't even heard that there is one, but there are a couple of GTSRs in the UK, and several other HSV V8s of various models, some were sold as a Vauxhall I believe, including our 2 door Monaro which was sold in the UK with a supercharger.
Can't drive it now, we're in lock down. Keep safe, Pickles. |
