Dos it operate in the same way as a truetrac? Wont you need to get the backlash set before you install it? unless you can do that yourself of course.

Hi Big Mike
no it doesnt work like a truetrac,as instead of locking up when needed the kaiser is locked all the time and the outside wheel overuns when cornering. it has no gears or screws, just ramps and rollers.....less to go wrong i hope! and I understand there are no side effects on tarmac. you take out your diff centre, unbolt the crown wheel from it and bolt it to the new kaiser diff centre, then when you bolt it back into the diff you set the bearing preload and backlash, this can go horribly wrong if you havent done one before, either the bearings destroy themselves if its too tight or the pinion shears the teeth off the crown wheel if its too loose! I should get time to fit it this week and i am going to a pay and play site on sunday to try it out I will post my findings on sunday night ! fingers crossed |

Hi,
Should be straight forward as you won't be removing the pinion. You could still use some marker paint to check the mesh of the gears is good once your happy with the backlash and preload. Sounds like a nice bit of kit, I had trutracs in a jeep and they were great. No stopping to engage lock you just concentrated on driving. Steve |
