SWMBO has just nipped to LeClercs with her ID card and filled out form showing the purpose of her trip, store was very quiet, fully stocked shelves loads of toilet roll, no hand sanitiser though.

On lock down, walk the dog twice a day, wave and shout hello to the locals, started removing the render from the house ready to point the stonework, sun is shining, beer and G&T in fridge - we really do know how lucky we are.

Hope everyone stays safe.

From our experience in Italy, I suggest you don't !!! This virus spreads because every single infected person infects an average of 2.6 persons. To stop it we must go down to 1 or less. We can reach that number only with a Vacine, but it will take to long, 10 to 12 months, or by self isolating our selves. There is no way you can be 100% sure you are not positive, unless you do a test. Of course you can not know the situation of every single person you will meet from now on, either.

So if you go out protect yourself and the people you meet with gloves and masks and stay at a safe distance from everybody. Don't want to patronize anybody, but what I wrote few days ago, unfortunately is happening

Ciao, take care you all and loved ones.
DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THIS THING

The local garage has Starkbier and thats the only place I'm going for the next month. If it's good enough for the monks...

Okay, seriously...
Nodo - I absolutely agree. It's happening here too. It's laudable and essential, to help others in dire need but remember, we might be the vector ourselves! It's impossible to tell and the only way to fight this f**k*ng evil virus for the time being is to stop yourself from spreading the infection...

It's still early days in the UK but please learn from our mistakes!

Stay well people Thumbs Up

p.s. now off to find out why my sodding headlights won't flash Laughing Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

Does taking your car out into the countryside going straight from house to car to destination and walking for a couple of hours keeping >2m from anyone you meet still count as self isolation or family quarantining if you do it as a family who are self isolating? We are being urged not to become couch potatoes over the next 2-12 weeks depending on circumstances. I’m lucky I live in a small village in the Trossachs and it isn’t difficult to find lonely trails and tracks where there is next to no chance of meeting someone else. I’m just thinking about the lovely weather we are being forecasted to have over the next 3 days in many parts of the UK. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

We'll hopefully be going for walks and staying on our narrow boat (in the marina) on and off while we do it. We won't need to be near to anybody else, so I can't see how it could harm.

I find all of this very selfish. Our grandparents had to go to war to save the nation and now you complain because they asked you to stay on the sofa for a few weeks. Think if you break the car and someone is forced to recover you. Think if you break your leg and you are forced to go to the hospital, taking time away from the health workers and risking high infection. However everyone will do what he wants, without considering that his gesture, unfortunately, will fall on the whole community.

We're being encouraged to get out and about but to stay isolated. The concern is that if we're all cooped up then mental health will suffer and we'll all kill one another.
I'm lucky - I live in the country. This morning's walk was over an hour and we didn't see anybody. I can't imagine being stuck in a small flat in central London for the next month.

What is odd is the reaction of people to being asked to do this. My wife contacted all her patients to see if they were coming in for their eye tests. It's the older people who are pushing back against any restrictions the most.

Yes it must be awful to be cooped up in an apartment in the city - out where I live we are seeing a lot more people in motor homes coming to the local campsites (yes I know it’s only March and here it was -3c last night) fewer caravans. Also our normally ignored village shops and the Coop in the next village have fully stocked shelves - the only thing I’ve noticed a shortage here has been toothpaste!
Another thing you can do it you have one is to get out into your garden so long as you can keep your 2m from neighbours - I gave a huge library of books at home (some 500 books from the days when I had no TV!) our local library is now shut and the library van isn’t calling any more - I put cards through my neighbor’s letterboxes telling them they are welcome to come and borrow although there is mostly travelogue and history books there are a lot of Nautical technical books. One of my elderly neighbors who is retired Professor of Maths has already borrowed my 3 volumes of The American Practical Navigator to learn about marine navigation, another has borrowed my history of containerization and the global economy! Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

I find it intriguing that my employer appears to have a total disregard for the Government's advice on just about every aspect of the Covid precautions.

Who do I work for? That would be the Civil Service.
