Looks very promising.
I really do hope they can make a success of the project and sell enough volume at a sensible price point to make it viable.
Faced with the choice of Ineos or new Defender, I know in which direction I would be heading.
Can't wait to see more of the updates.

Looking promising, I hope the updates start coming a bit more frequently now.

This will be the big test of whether there really is still a market for this type of vehicle. I really hope it succeeds. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I've subscribed several times but don't appear to be getting any updates, so thanks for posting.

Looks interesting. Not seen anything of Mark Evans for ages, his build series were always good watching.

Tractor axles, I wonder if we will get the 3 point linkage and hydraulics also Wink

The pto must be a given?

And from their website:

"We're specialised in axles designing and manufacturing for light commercial vehicles. Within this sphere, our range includes portal axles,"

Portal axles... Shocked

I love the quote, "We're not building a monocoque, because we're not not building SUVs"

I was talking to a colleague that is involved with the chassis design recently, his comment was, "They're doing a proper job of this". Looking at the chassis and suspension in the video, he's right about that.
Here's hoping the price remains affordable when it's released. Thumbs Up

Interesting, but I cannot see how it will be anywhere near under 40k? Surely this will be a niche market, which is exactly where Land Rover found themselves with the "old" Defender, too expensive to build without the profit and appeal of SUVs to the masses.

To be honest I wish them good luck but I will be sticking with what I have and do not find I want anything else, why is there the need to replace it if you like your Series or "old Defender?

Otherwise you could just buy a Ford Ranger/Hilux type vehicle if you want a modern utility 4x4 which is what most will do if they need that.

I agree Mike c, it is going to be such an incredibly niche product selling in tiny numbers that I suspect it’s price might make the New Defender look a bit of a bargain....... for a start whoever has heard of the manufacturer? It’s not exactly a household name like Land Rover is. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

I am happy with my Defender but I am curious to find out what this will turn out like. From what we have seen so far they are going to pick up where Land Rover left off. They seem to be doing what we wanted Land Rover to do i.e. not to scrimp on some of the components quality wise. How "basic" the vehicle can actually be bearing in mind the amount of safety regulations it must follow is another question. People used to say that they would not mind paying a little extra for a Defender if quality components were used.
The cost base of the new vehicle must be substantial bearing in mind the amount of R and D that is involved. Then there is a factory to be built and people trained from scratch. Land Rover had all of this in situ but decided to take their vehicle in another direction. Cost wise I think that a base "GRENADIER" will cost a lot more than a base 90 ever did.
I am sure the homework has been done and there must have been a good business case for the new vehicle.
I suppose Mercedes make a profit on the "G WAGEN" which was substantially more expensive than the Defender but that came in up market Range Rover variants spec wise as well as more basic models.
A question. If a fully rebuilt Defender on a galvanised chassis and the new GRENADIER came your way, which would you choose? I suppose it will be impossible to answer until the GRENADIER comes on stream.
Like I said, I will be watching this with interest. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Guy's you like LR are missing the point... Build a basic vehicle and make it commercial qualifying and if it's just got enough luxury then you 'Should' sell a lot... Ford and VW are teaming up on product development in this area... The market is HUGE... Asia, Africa, South America are massive growth markets (nearly everything is a utility vehicle)...
Unlike the SUV market which is burgeoned with new players, All who unfortunately appear to build a better vehicle than LR... Maybe not as capable???... But really, When was the last time you saw a Full Fat RR being smashed about off road... Interesting fact 93% of them are leased so that's not going to happen

just my 2p's worth
