It would be an advantage to know what dash you intend fitting it in, on or under, 300Tdi, Td5, Puma etc. Defender 90XS SW

For a single gauge that won't clutter up the dash, it's possible to fit a pod to the headling between the mirror and light.
I repositioned the clock in my TD5 up there to make space for a rev counter. Wires can be fully concealed behind the headlining and pillar trims. One of these, upside down. ![]() Click image to enlarge For more than one gauge, or extra switches, Mud UK do dash pods. |

You can see here the side switch panel that comes with the double din conversion fascia. I think you can also buy just the side panel from Twisted or Powerfuluk.

Do you have to cut the side panel to fit and can you get just a gauge panel or do you have to have the extra multi switch blanks??

Yes, you have to cut the dash to install switches / gauges / switch panels. Dunno if you can get just a gauge panel.

I used a mud pod for my application as needed some switches. But maybe an overkill for just one gauge

Definitely dont want a pod on top and not really keen on those Twosted type side panels as will just have millions of blanks........
Looking like will have to do something as a 'one-off' Thanks for the pix |

Most likley a dual gauge for temps.......
Just a stupid thing but i find an extrenal temp gauge in particular really useful and pretty much all of my other vehicles have this from the factory |

Not sure I'd do that with a round 52mm gauge though personally am after a battery management system in that size, checktemp2? Might save you the whole issue as it fits in a much smaller surface area?

I agree, i did that months ago. I fitted oiltemperature and -prsssure in the sidepanel, mine is a LHD. Another feature is that it shows you Voltage from time to time and switches back to original value. to be honest, it does not look as nice as an analogue device; There is place for a third one, I thought about exhaust-temperature before turbo. But that means to measuer inside header and I have no good idea for implementing it without risk of cracks... ![]() Click image to enlarge |
