Brake pad advice
Hi all,

Time for some new brake pads. The discs are fine so just the pads needed.

Has anybody got any advice/experience as to the best ones to fit. Are the Terrafirma Hd or ceramic ones any good?

Used mainly on the road, with a little off road - standard 90HT with 16” alloys.

Any help appreciated,

Cheers all.

I use a LOF clutch, and so far it's been good.
But
Just for balance, how long have you had your LOF pads on for, they were released about 2 weeks ago, having you been running prototypes or what?

Just from my own experience, I don't think there's all that much in it, I've always found Mintex to be fairly poor but they're dead cheap so work well on an off roader that will kill any set of pads in one outing at a sandy play site anyway.

Generally average reasonable and cheap = Bearmach. They stop and they last.

Isn't LOF just somebody in a shed who buys in clutches in a painted colour and people put pictures on instagram, just because it's green?

Along with fantastic customer service, good prices, product innovation and design.

Not personal experience with Lofs pads but only heard good things and based off his other products its worth a go.

Ive normally use Brembos, they stop bloody well but they are very abbrasive.

Minted squeak like hell. Ferrodo are good. Not heard the best about TF pads or EBCs (i had a set disintergrate off roading in my old 90! As did a mate using them on a track BM!) Instagram @defender_ventures

I'm only a 100 odd miles into the EBC's, so I'll keep an eye on them. Thumbs Up

I wasn’t happy with the EBC green. They work yes, but I found they got too hot on a regular basis especially on long runs with prolonged downhill braking.
I’m not sure what the current ones are, D44 fitted them as standard pads. They are just as good and they don’t get over heated anything like the Greens did.

Solid discs on mine yes, but I wasn’t happy at all practically boiling the Brake fluid. Porlock Hill made for a very interesting experience with those with brake fade!

I’ll just stick to standard from now on I think. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Nah, it's decent kit. Not tried the brakes yet but will definitely give them a whirl when it's time. WARNING.

I off-road regularly but also do long drives. The more expensive brake pads might live a little longer but in my eyes not enough for the price difference.
I always drive on MT's and the mintex pads are able to stop my tyres from rotating (no abs Twisted Evil ) so I think they are doing the job. Roel

Been using Ferodo brake pads for years, never had a problem.

Still made in Britain up in The High Peak.

Will have to remember that Mark. Thumbs Up It can be difficult to know where parts are made unless you've either already purchased or explicitly enquirered beforehand.
If the latter, often the seller doesn't know either as it's buy to order sales.

I'm always glad to buy UK parts backing British manufacturing where possible.
It wasn't a few months ago that I fitted some other parts, some bushes or similar I think they were were made in the UK as well so that's good.
Maybe one day JLR will be British again and restore some common sense to it.
Or a good alternative homegrown, will be interesting to see how the Bronco looks later in the year too. Smile $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R
