[quote="Tim in Scotland"] disappointed at how much a winch costs - £3000 for a remote control electric winch and another £2570 for the mounting kit is a bit steep. /quote]
I agree - the prices must reflect UK Retailer fitting costs as I don't believe it's factory fit. The winch itself - a Warn Zeon 10 Synthetic Rope Winch is available retail for some c£1,400 - so they're charging some £1,600 for fitting - a couple of bolts and connecting some battery cables.

Similarly, JLR are charging £58 for a Towing Electrics Adapter 13 Pin to 12N, something ordinarily available from some £5.50 to £12.

Someone's having a laugh and JLR clearly believe fools and their money are easy parted.

In the patent for the winch fitting kit it states "rather than retro fit... can be installed during assembly of the vehicle..., for example on a vehicle production line, in place of the vehicle bumper beam."

Crikey, that's a revolutionary step forward !..... NOT

I seem to remember that there's a similar obscene markup on the branded plant spray thing you can buy for washing boots/dogs/kids.

I suppose it also means it’s covered by the new car warranty......... Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Ok I think I’ve got mine sorted, after playing around with the configurator since yesterday.

90 D200 S
Tasman Blue
White steels
Privacy glass
White interior cross member
Air suspension
Classic mud flaps

I’ve decided against the white roof, it bugs me paying £800 to have the car painted then pay another £800 to paint a tiny part of the car. So far it’s coming in at just over £47k, relatively cheap compared to some specs. Laughing

Dutch prices for a 90 starting at €95k! Big Cry

I’ve cancelled, myself and dealer can’t agree on my Velars value so it will stay the last year of its contract. Thankfully it’s on PCP as at the moment it’s valued less than its GMFV, so come the end of its contract LR finance is going to get a shock Laughing

Well popped into to get my deposit back and apparently now there’s a deal to be had and they’re happy to order a car Rolling Eyes

I’ve opted to take delivery in January 2021, they ain’t sure when 90s will be delivered but they can select when they want it to arrive.

Good result well done, I was going to visit Pentland Stirling today but as it has been snowing hard here since 11am and settling (I’m only 30m above sea level here too) decided not to bother being tempted to spend lots of dosh, I’ll see what Saturday brings Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

A good result for you, but do you get a sense of whether they were always going to blink first on the Velars value or they have a rebate available against the Defender?

I had a feeling they would give in, well not so much give in but work out a deal that works for us both, I’ve dealt with them too long.

For all JLR's hype citing 'unprecedented demand', the dealers will be doing all sorts of deals in an attempt to hit their numbers.

Glad you got something sorted out. WARNING.

According to their own graphs the numbers to hit were very low.

What my dealer did say, was some customers that had placed an order for 110 are now changing to the 90.

Perhaps the 90 maybe more popular than expected?

Perhaps the reaction of potential 110 buyers is really “how much? Jeez I can’t afford that much” or perhaps “jeez it’s huge do I really need a Range Rover sized car to drive around in by myself all day?” Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

Tim, perhaps you forgot an important point on your last statement: “jeez it’s huge do I really need a Range Rover sized car to drive around in by myself all day?”
