I used the Flatdog shelves, a cheap bed conversion, Chuck on an eBay futon mattress and it’s perfect, spent loads of nights in mine now

The flat dog ones are listed on their site for a reasonable cost .. and look good - my partner has the side cages on her 110 and we are looking to buy an extra shelf to make a bed base too ...

I've hummed and hawed about these wheel arch boxes for storage purposes. It would never even have occurred to me to use it as a bed in a sort of 'emergency' option. Maybe when the weather is just too bad for a roof tent.
Are these boxes and the shelf really strong enough for two 'medium to large' folk to sleep on? (a combined weight of 170kg) Having this dual purpose would make the price much easier to manage. Paranoid Industries also make a sleeping base for Puma or TDI:

Hmm! That's a website I hadn't been to before - could be spendy!
Actually that's not such an outlandish price. The flatdog system - 2 boxes, 2 shelf sections, and two 'middle dividers' for the boxes would come to a shade over £400. The Paranoid one is £450 and has been specifically designed as a storage and sleep system. Thanks for posting the link. No worries.
I have been toying with the idea of getting their draw system as from examples I've seen they are extremely well made. Need to start saving!! M |

There are recent posts about people having difficulties with Paranoid that would be worth searching out before committing yourself. Darren

After a thorough consideration of the many products with my team, the sleep base system from Paranoid Engineering/industries was actually the first choice for our rigs, i purchased one piece in november 2019 to try out first but due to some issues (which i dont want to disclose here) i haven't got it.
Personally, we felt that their products were top notch and they were really awesome products and would be suitable for our climate and what we are doing, (i.e borneo safari), thats why we ordered one to try out first, i have been communicating with them since April 2019 before i committed to the order, all was good with the communications, when they replied to my questions, on time and to the point, but all went haywire from dec onwards. who is why we are looking for alternatives, and so here we are, back to scratch, back to the drawing board and looking again for products that will work. From my understanding, the bosses were ill and maybe that caused the delay. Hopefully i would be able to have a solution to my problem and i will update in here. till than... |
