Super quick to remove the surround panel. Two large(ish) machine screws on the sides around a third of the way from the bottom - one either side, and four small self tapping screws along the slam panel under the bonnet. > 110 XS Double Cab

Where are the large ones? I have removed the ones from the slam panel. I cant access anything else really because the grille is in place so I can't get inside to unscrew things. Instagram - @Land_Rover_Defender

The two black fixings either side of the grill, do they have removable centres(with a small pick) to get at the proper fixings?. Unsure as mine old style grill with self tappers down the sides.

So sorry just looked again and realised yours is a non air con vehicle. My instructions apply to air con vehicles > 110 XS Double Cab

I think you might be able to get at them from the underside, if you don’t have a steering guard fitted. Charlie

Getting at them from the bottom could be an idea yes. I think it could be difficult to get at them but worth a try. Instagram - @Land_Rover_Defender

Looks as though there are two bolts with free nuts (one either side) at the top of the grille surround and then two (one either side) towards the bottom which have caged captive nuts. Guessing that these bolts may pass through a flange on the inside edge of the wing to hold the wing and grille surround together. Can you see the bolt head in the headlight aperture? 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green

You need that grille out of the way - I'm guessing its been glued in by a previous owner

As stated previously... there are two captive bolts on each side hidden behind the grill surround (at the top) which need to be loosened then it will slip out. Your black mesh grill needs to be removed to facilitate this.

That’s the bolt you need to get to. There’s another on the other side. Think it should be accessible from the underside or you’ll have to pop the grille out. Had the problem of the captive nut spinning when I put an aircon panel on.

Thank you for the replies guys! I need to remove the grille. The bolts shown in the original photos are what I need to get to in order to remove the grille. I think as Baron said, this could be done maybe if I remove the steering guard. What I was trying to do was get at the intercooler to clean it and spray the brace struts. Instagram - @Land_Rover_Defender

....hopefully not red?

But yeah, remove grill, 4 bolts at the top, 2 at the bottom, I think the panel is slotted, so you can undo without taking the bolts out fully and slide the panel out. (certainly on either the top or the bottom...can't remember, even though I took mine off two weeks ago).
