anyone tell me the difference between the SD1 v8 and the Range rover 3.5 v8 .

IIRC Range Rover had lower power output due to restrictions in inlet manifolds.
Sdi was the engine to use in your Series + Range Rover diffs because of higher power. Just because you're offended doesn't mean you're right. |

Sd1 v8 was 9.35 :1
Range Rover was originally 8.13:1 on carbs, until it became efi in 85, then it became the same 9.35:1 it remained at that until the end of production in the P38 The water pump and front covers are different, Range Rovers being up higher so the fan was in the middle of the Radiator. The only ones that had 10.7:1 were fitted in the Rover P5B Coupe. All the Best. |

many thanks for all the information , the engine came out of a Range rover classic but the block number is 10A .

The compression ratio in the 4.2 in the Range Rover classic was 8.94 It is not a Defender, it is a One_Ten |

after a bit of looking the first range rover v8 ,were 8.5.1 for the first 1000 , but I think things like alternator etc not sure about the water pump are the same , less anyone knows better .
