I went down the Exmoor heated seat route. Pleased with the results. Using the loom and switches that came with the kit. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Exmoor heaters are 2 stage (Low/High) and are definitely better than the OE single stage (On/Off). Fitted them when I recovered the seats, easy to do. Its the first switch SWMBO reaches for when she climbs in the truck
The Exmoor switches illuminate green with low, centre off and red with high, with no panel illumination. It is possible to just replace the Exmoor switches with Carlings, you would gain panel illumination but would only have an indicator to show that the switch was on low but nothing on high. I think this is the way that the two stage Mobilecentre looms would work, but would need clarifying with the Mobilecentre. I wanted Carlings to match the rest of my switches and, to to keep in line with the others when off, needed to be Off/ Low/ High, with 2 colour indicator depending on heat setting and panel illumination. It took a bit of modifying of the switches, making up a new loom and a fair amount of head scratching to get the heaters to work properly but I got there in the end. I can dig out a wiring diagram for the off/on/on wiring if that's what you require. Depending on how confident you are with electrics and what you require, depends on whether you decide to go to Mobilecentre or make/modify a loom yourself. Hope that helps. Paul |
