Fuel tank recommendations for a 110 300tdi
Morning all, went out to the 300 this morning to see that the old girl has wet her pants, the fuel tank has split across the seam in the middle, of course it would do after I filled it up the other day Rolling Eyes.
Anyway after a bit of research on which tank to go for it seems what ever brand, be it genuine or aftermarket, they can all potentially split at any time, whenever they feel like it, so accepting this, anyone got any recommendations where to get one from? Some come with cradles some do not, I would prefer one for piece of mind if the current is rotten in a place I can’t see at the min.
Another question, do the tanks vary much over the years during the run of the 300? I know they go plastic on the td5s but was just wondering if there was anything to look out for when purchasing. It’s a late 94 300tdi 110 by the way.
Thanks

I think those ones listed by Dorset Smith are for ROW Tdi's (i.e. TD5 age) with the rear mount plastic tanks. You could in theory fit one of these but you would need additional brackets on the chassis

Personally I would just get a good quality aftermarket one and apply some kind of stonechip protection to it. This should stop pinhole leaks from corrosion which is the usual killer.
