Oh. And one other development.
Since one retailer allows free returns, I’m now the proud owner of 4 sets of DRLs. 3 of them cause interference. The last one (the ring one) will be tested tomorrow am. I have a feeling it’ll kill the DAB signal I therefore conclude the issue is elsewhere. And not the DRL’s themselves. |

If you look at the GL it has Cinch audio connectors. That's how in my case the iPhone's audio output is connected to an input of the radio. If you don't have that, then the noise maybe entering through the power input, which is what the EF type is for. The general problem with one type of interferences seems to be different ground potentials (voltages) of two connected devices (in my case iPhone and radio) (https://www.sounddevices.com/tackling-ground-loop-audio-noise/). The boxes I've mentioned do a galvanic isolation (they are basically transformers). |

SOLVED
Seems the Kenwood (and JVC) half depth double Dins just don’t have the same reception as other units. My double din was working perfectly, however when I added an amplifier it brought the noise level up ever so slightly, but just into the region where in some areas the DAB was lost. Then when I added some DRLs this raised the noise level a tiny bit more. Basically into the area where DAB was a challenge. Took it to the shop. Changed the head unit out with a Panasonic one and their signal capture is far far better. The noise created by the DRLs and amplifier just don’t matter. The DAB signal is still rock strong. This is a definite lesson to anyone that has the kenwood half depth models and the units sold by MUd stuff. They work, but just..... I now have 4 sets of DRL’s to return to Amazon. As the ones sold by Dixon Fabrications and ams with the bumper are actually fine. |

I can’t imagine what the issue with the brake switch is, BUT I’d take it to a decent audio place.
Get them to pop it out and temporarily replace it with another available non Kenwood/JVC unit. I’d place money on the fact the other unit won’t suffer the same issues. Or actually it will suffer the same noise and interference, but the reception will be so much stronger it won’t matter. Sorry if this isn’t the answer you wanted. It’s taken me a week and and hours of wasted time to find this out. Even Kenwood don’t know about this yet. But they will on Monday. |

So you removed the symptoms by removing the patient‘s head (unit). Like it

Yep.
As a further positive I now have multiple sets of DRLs Today I’m going to do a noise test on each of them. So if anyone wants to know which is best in terms of noise interference, build quality etc.. I’ll be able to recommend a set. No super posh ones though. Just cheap from China to ring ones. (£10-80 range) |

RFI from disk brakes is actually a fairly common problem. Does it do it if stationary or only when moving? |
