I was amazed at the size of the repairs (or QC remediation) operation in Liverpool on the day we visited they were overflowing with Evoques failing tests. we were on a gantry and one was failing its first engine start the operation to stick the sticker on and get it on dollys and off the production line was like an F1 pitstop then there were loads of bays with technicians fixing all the issues. The guide was saying they get cascade faults on the line where it can knock 20 cars out before its found as the first car gets to qc then they have to hand fix them all.
Leak testing looked fun when you put them through the monsoon machine, kids loved that. I laughed at the adhoc warnings SHUT ALL DOORS, WINDOWS AND SUNROOFS everywhere before entering . Better this than stopping the production line, or releasing vehicles with known faulty software to customers.
All the manufacturers do it, and I know JLR did it previously with (IIRC) Evoques when there was a headlamp supply issue, they were built without the headlamps which were then fitted later. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |
